bedivere had been her first knight along her brother. he had been there from her first steps as a king to her lasts. he had been hers to lean on, to rely on.

'the king does not know the people's heart'

she had rarely shown others that she did pay attention to her people, remembering the small details of their lives. bedivere had listened, he had perhaps been one of the very few people to ever glimpse the king's heart.

I do not deserve this he says, an expression on his face that breaks her heart. after all this and he still could not see his worth?

"bedivere." she pulls him further down to pull him into a hug "who else does but you? you are my first and my last knight." he is hers. "you've always been by my side, it feels cold when you are not here."

"There you are! I've been looking for you everywhere! Take a look, I got all this fresh bread from the lady at the market for free. I guess I truly must've made her day, huh?"

"Bedi Bedi~! My favorite knight in shining armor! What are we doing today, hm~? Whatever mission has our dearest Artie placed upon our shoulders?"

bedivere! as always, most times with the other knights, they aren't his his so he approaches them cautiously/with respect. in the light novel, I believe bedivere is also the last person he sees before he goes to his 2nd grail war too. bedivere was one of his first knights so he'll probably wonder if theyre the same or not but never really ask bc that's rude.

"damn not another one" alter circa 2025. lol anyway, alter is aware of how loyal bedivere is/was but since he's not the bedivere he knows, he'll be disinterested for the most part. he would make boundaries clear and dislike being waited on by him as in his mind he different from his "true" self. his ideals are different from mr prince charming so he'll wave off anything bedivere says as trying to change him back/save him.

in my own drafts for avenger's storyline/plot, bedivere does try to stop avenger first after the battle against mordred but ends up dying to his rage bc by then mordred put lies in his head about all the knights betrayal and what nots. loyalty isnt dead but also being put in the bad situation of it for the drama (ie destroying camelot with his own hands) and bedivere trying to stop him proved it. anyway, unfortunately camelots get the instant crazy dragon man so bedivere is included. it would be interesting to explore the dynamic tho since when he isnt angry, sometimes he can think straight. avenger is very aware of what he's become and assumes everyone sees it so there's no point in talking to him.

'I must be careful with my words around him. Taking advantage of his kindness towards me would be uncouth and improper...but--'

"You suffered a harsh blow but it looks like your armor saved you from the worst of it." She approaches him from behind, her eyes looking at his bare back to make sure there were no injuries there that needed to be treated. She stops, gently bending down as her gaze sees the scars left behind from earlier fights, ones that were on him when summoned. They looked familiar and foreign at the same time, different but similar battles from their memories.

He turns to look at her, a surprised expression to how close she was and she can now see the front of his torso. Some bruises on his chest from the bent armor, but nothing worst which lets her feel some relief, eyes softening with it. Though her lips press into a thin line for a moment before she speaks.

"I know you tend to keep an eye on me during battle, but do not do so at your expense, Bedivere." Her voice is softer, and gentle, not a command but simply a request from a friend if she dared to call herself one. "It pains me to see you hurt at my expense. So please, take care of yourself."

A hint of a smile forms, green eyes softening as she turns to look at the other knight. Steadfast and loyal no matter where they are, it was a wonder to see it up close again. His words are genuine, she knows that despite them being from different realities.

He's suffered much, hasn't he?

"Your words are always uplifting to hear, dear Bedivere." She replies quietly, a hushed tone so only he can hear. "I wonder what I've done to deserve such words sometimes." Kindness given in equal measure and taken back--it was something she always had to mind for herself as King but even in her memories Bedivere never seemed to want anything back.
