4. what are they like with germs? (their own & others)
rowan:
her germs - rowan is somewhat cautious with her own germs. rowan’s the oldest of five kids, and there’s a pretty significant age gap between her & the rest of her siblings. because of this, she was always told to be careful around her siblings when it came to germs because they were little & ever since they came around she’s been worried about the possibility of getting them sick. she’s also cautious about her own germs when it comes to her team. she lives with 6 of her teammates in a townhouse & shares a room with one of them so she tends to head to paisley’s when she's sick because she doesn't want to get anyone in her house or on her team sick. the one case where she isn’t too worried about her germs is with paisley. rowan has a horrible immune system and paisley is always there to take care of her. paisley catches rowan’s sneezes with either tissues or handkerchiefs, she cleans up rowan’s nose after a messy sneeze or sneezing fit, holds the tissues or handkerchiefs to rowan’s nose for her to blow into, and she lets rowan sneeze uncovered into her chest, even when it’s bare. (rowan isn't quite sure why but she doesn’t complain.)
other’s germs - rowan doesn’t care about other people’s germs despite her weak immune system. she had to deal with little kid germs growing up which are the worst & can take out just about anyone. because she sometimes had to play “mom” she also had to take care of her little siblings when they were sick so she’s used to being around germs and it doesn't bother her. she’s also played soccer her whole life, where they’ll drink anyone & everyone’s water bottles & the team is so close together that when one person gets sick, they all start dropping like flies. though she’s mostly the one who’s sick, she loves getting to dote on paisley when she’s sick because she loves getting to return the love & care she gets when she’s sick.
paisley:
her germs - paisley doesn’t really care about her germs. she does stay in when she can while she’s sick & makes sure to let her friends know before she sees anyone, but she doesn’t worry about her germs. she only worries a bit when it comes to her being sick around rowan, but that’s because she knows that rowan has a horrible immune system and gets sick all the time & while paisley loves taking care of rowan when she’s under the weather, she worries a lot about rowan & it hurts her heart seeing her girl sick.
other’s germs - paisley doesn’t care about other people’s germs really at all. she has an insanely strong immune system so she doesn’t get sick often, especially from other people. with people she’s attracted to, she really doesn’t mind germs or them being sick around her. she’s always thought that girls with colds are absolutely adorable & she’s always been a natural caretaker & loves it, but there is definitely something more there. with rowan, she uses handkerchiefs or tissues to catch sneezes, holds tissues or handkerchiefs to rowan’s nose for her to blow into, and is more than happy to let rowan sneeze uncovered into her chest, especially when she’s not wearing a shirt. she’s not completely sure why, but it makes her feel fuzzy in new ways & she enjoys it.
8. what do they find more irritating, a bad cough or a frequently recurring urge to sneeze?
rowan - a bad cough. because she’s on a college soccer team she has to do training & work out to stay in shape, on top of practices. with a bad cough, it’s hard for her to work out & perform to the best of her abilities which is something she absolutely hates. It makes her feel weak & she despises that feeling, especially because she prides herself on her athletic abilities because they’re the reason she’s going to georgetown.
paisley - a frequently recurring urge to sneeze. when sneezes are mentioned in reference to paisley, usually handkerchiefs are too. paisley loves the environmental benefit of using handkerchiefs over tissues, along with all the cute patterns she can have since she tends to make her handkerchiefs herself. but paisley mostly uses them because she has big & messy sneezes, so tissues don’t always work for her. with a recurring urge to sneeze she’d have to constantly be taking her handkerchief in & out of her pocket while also trying to make sure she’s alone, because her sneezes make her super self conscious due to their volume & their messiness. while she has nothing near a dad sneeze, paisley wishes she had cute tiny sneezes kinda like rowan & the classic “small girl sneeze” & hates that she doesn’t.
