I've drafted(though not really written whoops) a few self inserts over the years, and I've joked that you can order them easily by how pissy they are. 2014!SI me still had like, hope and faith in humanity. 2020!SI me is an entirely different creature.
This is the most accurate measure of “when did the SI die” that I have ever seen, and I will be using it almost exclusively from now on. Thank you for this gift.
Is the SI a sweet cinnamon roll? Yes? Then probably pre-2016.
Is the SI a jaded and anxious person, but one whose eyes still sparkle with hope? Post-2016, pre-2020.
Are they a fuckin’ rage monster? 2020, BABY.
Obvs this only applies to SIs around my age and whatnot, but you get the idea. Rage is an unavoidable symptom of this time period.
