Gilbert Cyril GerardĀ (January 23, 1943 ā December 16, 2025) Film and television actor, whose roles include that of CaptainĀ William "Buck" RogersĀ in the 1979ā1981 television seriesĀ Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
During the 1960's, he did most of his acting inĀ television commercials, almost 400, including a stint as spokesman for theĀ Ford Motor Company. Gerard then gained a prominent role in the daytime soap operaĀ The DoctorsĀ for two years. He appeared in a 1977 episode ofĀ Hawaii Five-OĀ ("The Ninth Step") as Marty Cobb, a former cop and recovering alcoholic. A guest appearance inĀ Little House on the PrairieĀ impressed producer-starĀ Michael Landon, who cast him in the leading role in the 1978Ā TV movieĀ Killing Stone.
Gerard then landed his best-known role, as CaptainĀ William "Buck" RogersĀ in the TV seriesĀ Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, which ran from 1979 to 1981, with the feature-lengthĀ pilot episodeĀ being released theatrically some months prior to the first broadcast of the series. After this, he was featured in a number of other TV shows and movies, including starring roles in the 1982 TV movieĀ Hear No EvilĀ as Dragon,Ā the short-lived seriesĀ SidekicksĀ (1986), andĀ E.A.R.T.H. ForceĀ (1990).
In 1992, Gerard hosted theĀ reality TVĀ seriesĀ Code 3, which followed firefighters from different areas of the U,S, as they responded to emergency calls. The show ran on theĀ Fox TVĀ Network until the following year. For the remainder of the 1990s, Gerard made guest appearances on various TV shows, includingĀ Fish Police,Ā Brotherly Love,Ā The Big Easy,Ā Days of Our Lives, andĀ Pacific Blue. (Wikipedia)
