Explaining bisexuality to your mother
Ok here's the thing after years of trying to figure out who am, who I fall for and the like I have found that I am bisexual. Done dusted this is me... But do you know how hard it is to explain bisexuality to your mother???? I have had the same conversation with my mum about a hundred times.. Common questions asked: So are you into guys or girls at the moment? Are you sure it's not just a phase? Oh I thought you were straight at the moment because you've only been talking about guys you're interested in.... I didnt realise you were still into girls, are you? Ok so this drives me CRAZY! I LIKE BOTH MEN AND WOMEN!!! It's pretty simple really, nothing too complicated... But for some reason this is such a foreign concept to my mother... And then there's scenarios like the following: An add was on tv for a new movie Scarlett Johanson was in and I was like "she's hot" my mum turns around and says "ok that's enough"... What's enough?? That I thought a woman was attractive.. I don't see how that warranted that response... If I said that about a guy nobody would have even flinched... Sigh... I guess even the most supportive mum can be influenced by the norms around her that I don't fit in with...
