We recently lost Compy. My heart is aching without him. I'm not sure what happened to him, there was no discernible reason why he passed, but I know that he was a kind and special soul. OK so it may be Wednesday, but I'm still going to throw it back to the first time I met @shirastrongin in person and got to hang out with her and get the amazingly awesome @eiryn ! I love both of these humans more than I can put into words, and I'm so grateful to have them in my life! One of the main things I always go back to when people talk about disability and illness as pure tragedy is all the amazing people and has brought into my life, and allowed me to call sisters, brothers, siblings, family, and friends. I can honestly say that for every bad moment that comes with this life I can count at least five good ones. I know this sounds cheesy and sappy, but it's the truth! I found many similarities in her story....goes to show that watching your parent’s illness slowly progress throughout your life is challenging, heartbreaking, as well as eye-opening, no matter what illness they are combatting. 💫 • "My mom was very strong. She always tried to find a way to work around her disability. I also remember even though her appearance dramatically changed -- which occasionally was discouraging for her -- her identity was not placed in her looks. I remember other moms being too embarrassed to take a photo because they thought they were "fat" or didn't have makeup on. Yesterday the farm supply store I work at called me into work on my day off to pick up a sick turkey. His clutch mates passed away despite their efforts and he had signs of a respiratory infection. I was so happy they called me to try and help him rather than give up on him!
