if i had a nickel for every time i accidentally read a book about polyamorous people illegally learning magic, i’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice

rating something appropriately ≠censorship.
“oh you’re advocating for censorship? not cool!” no, what isn’t cool is graphic content being marketed to children. “young adult” readers are CHILDREN.
kids 12-18 watch R-rated movies and play mature games plenty, despite their ratings. but they (and their parents) are AWARE OF THE RATING BEFORE THEY CHOOSE TO ENGAGE! books should be no different! there should be clear guidelines for audience rating, and a reasonable expectation that they are marketed and shelved accordingly!
note: i know it isn’t always the author’s fault. i seem to remember similar drama around the binding 13 series.
Newest books I've gotten to read! Very much fantasy-forward this time.
