So, if no one has noticed yet, I shove a lot of my issues and life experiences off onto the Stan twins, because misery loves company or whatever.
Well, I just had a massive pile of memories hit me today at work.
Stan and Ford yapping, and IRL sibling sadness below.
(Okay, this is def more of a vent. Holy shit my bad)
My sister and I are Irish twins, (born in the same year). We did EVERYTHING together. Back then, I was the Stanley, and still kinda am? She’s kinda turned into Bill atp, she’s getting pretty twisted and manipulative rn, but before all that, she was Ford through and through. Smart, calculating, weird as hell, but I loved it. She could talk about whatever for however long and I’d listen as long as we got to play outside afterwards.
ANYWAYS.
I was lost without her and extremely clingy, not my fault, my parents made her out to be the best thing since sliced bread. I just wanted to be that good too. I wanted to be smart and funny and all the things she was. I just…wasn’t. Being near her at all times made me hope that some of that could rub off on me and make me better too.
We were “homeschooled” (not really, unless Jesus can teach math and science) and suddenly BAM. Public middle school. We were put in all the same classes and I followed her EVERYWHERE. Every class, every lunch, every second of the day, because I needed her to help me understand what was going on.
Now, unlike Stanley, back then, I was very unsociable, but my sister was great at that part. She had tons of friends, was known by everyone, popular.
She started leaving me behind, very slowly and surely, until I was all by myself. She didn’t wanna hang out, or play or anything with me anymore.
Watching your sibling, your other half, your twin, leave you in the dust when so much of your life orbited around them is crushing guys. I mean, the things that did to my little heart? Irreparable.
I can’t help but imagine Stan in my spot when Ford started to grow away from him. No more playing pretend, or playing with toys or talking about hopes and dreams. It’s just you from the moment you get up in the morning until you go to bed.
You talk here and there, but it’s empty conversations, no sense of normalcy, at least not what you consider normal. You still have good and bad times, but not as good as it used to be.
So it’s just you.
You just gotta be stupid on your own. Suddenly learn how to be good without falling back on the better sibling that your name is associated with.
The psychology behind all of it is fascinating. The things that those moments do to an adults brain is bizarre.
In highschool, we drifted further and further apart, and then poof, gone. She left for some dumbass man.
Ugh, idk, siblings are weird, the story isn’t the same, but the key pieces of it is.
Watching gravity falls was so weird for me when I watched it for the first time. TOTS had me in tears because that childhood and fight was so similar to experiences I had with my sister.
Now she isn’t even my best friend, and she’s barely my sister. Still, I am undyingly loyal to her.
I’m also, quite literally, now Uncle Stan.
“BOOOOO CRINGE” the crowd shouts.
The yappings are a form of therapy for me, can you tell that I don’t have any health insurance anymore?
