@dreadblaidd || from your open inquisition starter!! || my verse info
she's never been so busy in her life. it isn't a complaint, though, far from it. as the work continues, as they uncover the beauty of skyhold bit by bit from the rubble, she can begin to envision the way things will look when they're done. when they're settled.
haven had always seemed temporary. too many people, too little space, too much scrutiny from the town's chantry. you cannot quarter an army in a small village and the inquisition had slowly but surely been growing to that size. this new place was full of space—and possibilities. with any luck, less of their people would have to squeeze into tents.
she'd intended to make the gardens a project for the day, but had underestimated just how wild they would be. there's a clear vision in her mind of how they could look once they're cleaned up, space to grow food and herbs and plants for use in enchantment and alchemy. but that day seems distant. especially so, given that a good percentage of their able workforce spends their days in contemplation and prayer. but perhaps it is too much to ask a chantry sister to dirty her robe pulling weeds.
she shakes off that rather uncharitable thought and turns her attention to the movement of one of the doors leading off of the gardens. it ought to lead to the main hall, she thinks, and her suspicion is proven correct when the door is finally thrown open all the way.
it takes her by surprise when solas turns to her after propping the door—she had never made an effort to seek him out at haven, overly worried about bothering the man that seemed to keep to himself. it would be a lie to say that she was not curious, though. she knows about the dalish elves, knows they wield magic freely and are not forced into circles; his lack of vallaslin marks him apostate, though, not dalish.
"i was just thinking that they'd do better to pull some of these weeds," she confesses with a breathy laugh, emboldened by his own critique. "perhaps they can pray silently as they do? i'm sure the maker could still hear."
she peers past him a bit into the main hall, an area she had been wary of entering lest she get in the way. "is it? leaking, i mean. i don't know how to fix that, but i think i could find someone who can." she casts a last forlorn look at the garden and slots it neatly into her mental to-do list.
"i can certainly help with tasks unrelated to roofing, though! what do you need?"
