How close should singers be to the mic?...
This is Bear just blogging some useful info for singers and engineers about vocal proximity to the microphone when performing. As I do my best to keep up with blogs, trends and technology - I tend to read a lot. I found this little piece of advice from the @Shure blog. It gives a fairly accurate description for suggested distances for singer, check it out below. Iāve also included the link to the full article below. Happy consumption!
The āIām singing backgroundā distanceāusually 1.5 to 3 inches (2 fingers to 4 fingers).
The āIām singing a quiet, intimate lyricā distanceāusually 1 inch or less (1 finger or less).
The āIām really belting it out and I donāt want to hurt someoneās hearingā distanceāusually 6 inches to armās length, depending on the singer, the song, the instrumentation in the band, and the size of the room.
