“ Excuse me! Good morning! ”
Whatever reason a high school kid had for confronting a policeman with such an oblivious smile couldn’t have been anything serious. Perhaps bordering on time consuming, or perhaps wasting would be a better term. But he approaches anyway, notebook and pen in hand, with a glint in his eye of a man on a mission.
“ Sorry to bother you! My name’s E-ki. I’m gathering ideas and urban legends for a script I’m writing with my friends. Since you’re a policemen and all... I was wondering if there’s ever been anything strange here in Bellevue you’ve had to deal with?! ”
He pauses in his excitable monologue, letting a thoughtful expression crack through his usual carefree one. “ If not, any urban legend is fine--your favorite one? Most interesting! The scariest! ” His smile returns, and he’s practically bouncing on the balls of his feet. “Or... ‘Piss off, kid’ is also a valid response, but you seem like a nice guy, so I’d prefer ‘Move along, E-ki’ if that’s the case! ”
