Honestly this idea just occurred to me but I could actually make peace with and get behind the idea of not having any children/ not taking a wife because after all that he’s been through and seem he would want the Targaryen bloodline/ threat to die out with him being the last Targaryen. It would bring him full circle with the conversation he had with Maester Aemon about a Targaryen alone being a dangerous thing in the world and Jon acknowledging that danger and making sure it never happens to anyone else but him. It would be the ultimate sacrifice for him and would actually make him a hero of the story by sacrificing something he wanted, belonging and children, for the safety of others and maybe it would be a return to the character we all love. Many said that Jon would be the one to restore House Targaryen to glory but what if Jon chose to let the dynasty die out as it was meant to and let fire and blood become embers and scars? Instead of restoring an old house he paved way for a new House, that bears the name Stark to rule. It would show that he truly was as honorable as we remember and Ned Starks son after all.
