What Is The Point Of A Sub-100 Mile Range Electric Car?
Who on earth is buying a car that can only do less than 100 miles between 're-fuelling'? Well, more than you'd think!
P.S. Yes, as a "city electric car" or a "second" car for the daily commute to work or the store, it works very well in rich countries, but will it be convenient for those who drive long distances, especially in places where fast charging stations are far from one of the other, and they don't always work, I highly doubt it.
In middle-income countries, an ordinary family usually has one car. It should be able to drive equally well both short and long distances, as well to transport people and luggage on holiday trips across whole continent...! So, absolute minimal acceptable distance for mass market affordable EVs between charging sessions is around 216-250 miles (350-400 km) in real world driving conditions...! Distance less than 100 miles (less than 160km) isn't very practical or appealing to many people in Latvia. Also, we tend to have winter and cold weather here in the north, and we drive in winters too, and we drive a lot and long distances in cold weather...! No, 100 mile EVs are not acceptable here...!
I will repeat myself again, but "bare bones" basic subcompact or compact EVs should be capable to go at least 216 miles in real world...
