It's right there in the logo. In most GTA games, progress is marked by the amount of money the player is earning. Unfortunately this doesn't work when it comes to the narrative. After less than an hour of play in GTA IV, Niko will have thousands of dollars to spend, making all the petty jobs for asshole crime lords seem a bit pointless. I just hope Michael, Trevor and Franklin have a reason for stealing all this money in the heists. Money marks your progression through GTA Online as well- you can use it to buy cars, apartments, guns and clothes, and it should all help to make your character look and feel more powerful in the online environment.

3. A Bigger Map To Roam

While the Liberty City of IV was incredibly detailed and remarkable, it's been 5 years since its release, and I feel like I know it back to front now. The roads are cramped, there's always traffic slowing you down, and everything is dimly lit and grimy. It's a perfect representation of New York, but with GTA V around the corner, I'm aching for some wide expansive deserts to drive across, woods to trek through and highways to cruise around. One of my favourite vehicles, the Sanchez, never got a chance to come into its own in Liberty City, but now is its chance to shine. I can feel it.

4. Cars

Like the action movies that inspired the series, cars are often characters in their own rights, and I hope Rockstar can channel some of this into the new game. Now that car customisation is back, along with the ability to buy, insure and store cars, I'm looking forward to having a deeper connection to my cars than in previous GTA games, where they were just tools you used to get from A to B, and crashed along the way. Convertibles have also been confirmed, so that's pretty cool.
