“Let’s get one thing straight-- I’m not your fuckin’ charity case.” 

Leonhart’s house is nicer than the shitty apartment Seifer’s spent the past six months in (and a hell of a lot nicer now that he’s managed to burn the whole place to the ground.)

He deliberately doesn’t kick off his shoes at the door, tracking whatever’s on them across clean carpet, dropping his duffel onto the sofa. Everything he’s wearing, everything he owns now is new, bought with borrowed gil (cadged from Xu rather than his father, because owing Xu money somehow means less of a hit to his pride.) Even his goddamned boots are new, and don’t fit his feet the way they should. 

“This isn’t good…best to get out of this and quickly..gahhh!” Bartz Klauser states as he dashed through the raging thunderstorm as lightning strike the way in a brilliant light, blinding the Mimic Warrior’s vision as a few minutes passed on.

He couldn’t make out a thing as lightning then struck a tree nearby him as it came down, trapping his right leg as he screamed out in pain by the massive weight upon it.

He was trapped with no way of getting out since his magic and stamina was recovering, his brown eyes widen at this all happening around him.

The cafe? It was certainly not a suggestion that he would have expected, but being able to escape the office for once sounded heavenly. Of course for the commander to recommend it meant that he had to be in a phenomenal mood, or certainly not irritated at the guardian to actually accept the attempt to get him out of the building. It was that thought that kept him from just laying there and chattering on about this and that.

“Certainly a change from hot dogs and cafeteria food. Would you like to head out now, or do you have some important business that keeps you here in the Garden? Or would you rather enjoy a bit of time screwing around with me?”

“Fuck them. They’re a bunch of blowhards, anyway.” Bold words, considering they were standing in the parking lot of the justice building, and the Garden council would likely come out the same door they just had any moment now. 

She gestured emphatically with her cigarette, ash flying to the pavement between them in bold strokes.
