The space of the library was peaceful, quiet, and undisturbed.
However, it reminded Ray of a time since passed, where all he did was read book upon book upon book. Cramming his already knowledge filled brain with even more knowledge, anything that would be useful, anything that would be helpful-- hardly ever interesting or thought engaging. Simply information. To make himself smarter, to have an edge in the world, to have a grasp at something helpful for the sake of his siblings. All for them--
Yet it was that very environment that put him at a sort of unease, eyes drifting upward when he became lost in thoughts related to the topic he was reading or when he began thinking of his siblings, where he could only look at the vast amount of shelves... A sore reminder of a time gone by. It was as if the very place was saying that he did not have enough knowledge, that he did not know enough, to read faster, understand everything, formulate a plan, get out of here already, save your--
Ray learned easily how to borrow a few books from said library before doing so, and with those in hand, the child went around to a comfortable plot of shade under a tree and began his afternoon reading there. A short time would pass, and pages would be flipped before Ray noticed someone’s presence approaching. Upon seeing a young child, Ray did his best to call out to them, “...What is it? Are you interested in this?” He raised the book up lightly to indicate what he was talking about.
