For context, despite grievances with leaving our family, we’re doing pretty well in life. We have a good job, we’re doing well for ourselves, and we’re in therapy to tackle what we struggle with, which is going extremely well.

Immediately, she starts going into “You’re holding back on a job opportunity, you’re not chasing the career you really want”. I told her straight up, I was in a job I loved that pays well. As soon as she found out what our job was in (we work with vulnerable adults), she immediately changed her tune and was like “Maybe climbing higher up the ladder.”

She tried to tell me there were emotions I wasn’t accepting, a romance with an Aquarius I was denying, this that and the other (for shits and giggles, I asked my friend what their sign was. Virgo). I told her about being in therapy and being pretty happy overall and tackling what wasn’t right, and how if I was happy with my life, why did I need to bring a person into it? Couldn’t I just be single and happy?

She pulled about fifteen cards, trying to repeatedly say it was some other issue I wasn’t confronting. I tried to say “Okay” to sound supportive, but am pretty sure every bit of disbelief came through. I wasn’t trying to be a dick.

Then she started getting condescending and desperate. “I’ve been reading since 2005, I know what I’m doing, I’ve never been wrong”.

Never been wrong? Never? Even while still getting your sea legs with reading?

So anyway. Yeah. I think I paid $12 to give a scam artist a complex.

Just a reminder, kids. Tarot is valid, but not every reader has good intentions. Always be on your guard. Some of them are truly willing to try and psychologically fuck you up just for a bit of cash.
