I touched up and colored this old piece.
I love older Sheila’s design. but I need to think of something better for future Shino.
When I first started drawing that first draft of Pocket Arsenal, I planned a misunderstanding between Shino and Sheila, where he thought her current form was a curse placed on her by Witchy, and she was really a pretty human girl. Eventually he would learn the truth, but his feelings would still be the same because of all they had been through together.
I wanted to do this because I hate the whole "Beauty and the Beast" trope, where at the end of the story, the "ugly" creature is turned back into a Beautiful/Handsome and desirable person by a kiss or some shit like that. It just feels like it kills a nice message when that happens. ( okay, okay, and a shameful love for cute monster and human pairings, but that comes second ) But anyway, another post I saw on Tumblr gives me fun thoughts of a more fairy tale like AU that reversifies the beauty and the beast trope. Sheila is cursed, but she's cursed to live as a human, and the spell breaks revealing her true monster self. Shino's still into it. That's still kinda shitty though for reasons similar to what I dislike about the original trope. It just puts what I dislike at the beginning instead of the end, and adds deception in the end...
So let's rectify that by keeping everything the same, and Sheila still looks like the half-pint monster we all know and love, but she's still cursed to be this little weakling. And when Shino breaks the curse in this AU, she becomes a badass 9 foot tall aqua dragon monster mama that could tank an army. And also Shino is into it.
This is actually the second time I've made an AU that involves Sheila's actually cursed to be tiny, while her giant monster form is locked down. I guess I just really like the idea.
Other characters roles in the AU are not known, but for this it'd be way more fairy tale-ish than fantasy adventure.
Perhaps one day, there will even be artwork of this.

Although the patterns for the flower motifs, butas, and the buds, butis are sometimes stamped with woodblocks, the animal and human figures are always drawn by hand.
