This may sound odd but I find that it is weird when people shout out characters are lesbians when the girl character finally kisses a girl in the show, but they had a relationship with a boy much earlier on in the show. And has said to have multiple boyfriends.
Like did you guys forget that they dated a guy? It takes two to date people, and I mean real relationship kinda dating not the I am with him cause *insert reason here*.
The biggest culprit of this I see is the Princess Bubblegum and Marceline from Adventure Time. I love that they made them dating canon, but you remember the then Young and now Old Mr Creampuff? Who she said was her boyfriend. Or how she had a crush on Finn? Or is there some secret rule that once you start liking a girl your status before, no matter what it was, is now null and void. You are lesbian now.
NOTE THIS IS NOT HATE TOWARD THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY.
If you are a part id that community then power to you. Just made some observations on ships with characters and people forgetting past relationships they had.
