"LAKE FAMBUSH MADE HALIFAX,” The Quebec Chronicle. September 29, 1919. Page 01. --- REACHED PORT SATURDAY NIGHT IN DISABLED CONDITION FOR REPAIRS. --- Halifax, N.S., Sept. 28 - The new American oil burning steamer Lake LR which was reported disabled 100 miles south of Halifax Saturday morning, arrived Saturday night, and will be here a week making repairs. The first message received by the Marine and Fisheries, stated that the steamer was in latitude 42.57; longitude 6357, moderate winds blowing, and that her engines were disabled beyond repair. One of the officers when seen by the Canadian Press stated that trouble was in the conveyor, the pipe system that conveys the oil from the tanks to the furnaces, there was only one oil pump on the steamer, and when that became disabled, the only way to get the fuel oil to the furnaces was to carry it by buckets, which the crew did, thus being able to make this port under their own steam Saturday night at a late hour. The steamer belong to W. R. Grace Company, of New York.
