They’re watching the TV together, whatever show happened to be on. Risotto is in his human form with his arm around Prosciutto’s shoulders.
A scene comes up where a young character is being yelled at by an adult. Risotto knows it’s too much for Prosciutto. Before the scene can escalate, he changes the channel.
“Thanks.” Prosciutto mumbles. He steadies his breathing and nestles himself further into Risotto’s chest.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Risotto asks quietly.
Prosciutto hiccups, tears silently fall down his cheeks. “I... she...” Risotto remains patient as always, loosening up Prosciutto’s hair through his fingers.
Prosciutto grips Risotto’s shirt with a shaky fist. “I never... understood why. Why did she hate me so much? Why did she... even have me...”
“She wanted me to be perfect. I became so paranoid in everything I did... even with something as stupid as eating!” Prosciutto sobs, “I’m so glad I moved out... away from her screaming...”
“But then she has the audacity to come after me! Trying to find out where I live and what I’m doing... I’m never going to escape her, am I? I mean, look at me, I almost had an anxiety attack just from watching TV...”
“I don’t blame you. You’ve had a traumatic childhood. It’s nothing to be ashamed of,” Risotto pats a tissue on Prosciutto’s wet cheeks, “And with me around, I don’t think she’ll try again.”
“But she almost had you taken away by the pound!”
“And we proved otherwise to them. You have nothing to worry about,” Risotto brushes Prosciutto’s loose bangs out of his face, “If something does happen, I will protect you. I promise you that, tesoro.”
