The storm brothers in their Kami forms, per my Au

This is the first Raiden design I’ve done that looks good, I’m really happy with him! For Fujin his design is consistent with my others, albeit with a few tweaks I may or may not keep.

Got some random “god” headcannons about the brothers I’ll put here too.

I’ve probably talked about this in my previous post but for these designs Fujin’s and Raiden’s birth story is consistent with their Shinto mythology. Being born from Lady Izanami’s form after her death and in the netherrealm. Raiden shortly after her death and Fujin many decades later.

There’s a quiet speculation between the elder gods and other high deities that Raiden was actually twin to Kagutsuchi, the fire god who’s birth had caused their mothers death. Both boys being born in close time to one another along with Raiden’s power of lightning falling under the category of the fire element. Both boys had gotten on very well growing up aswell, sharing interests and of course matching hats.

Fujin absolutely hates this theory, himself also putting the evidence together. Kagutsuchi is long dead, so it matters not. But that doesn’t stop him from worrying it may just be true.

Unlike Raiden’s birth, the elder gods couldn’t tell when Fujin was born. Shinnok had however. In a strange way, feeling him through death. Despite Fujin being born a healthy, living baby with a heartbeat and breath Cetrion couldn’t detect him. Meaning Fujin spent just a little bit more time with his mother.

The boys forms changed to their more humane look after being taken from the netherrealm, only coming out when near their mother or drawing great power for Shinto duties. The elder gods preventing them for being used in earthreams defense.

Raiden begins loosing his ability for his Kami form over time. Not using it often or training it, meaning there’s a lot of power he cannot draw. This is what makes the Shinto weather duties fall amongst fujin’s responsibilities.

I like to think all of the gods have white hair to some degree but only fujin has pale eyelashes and eyebrows to go along with it. Basically Fujin has Leucism is what I’m trying to say.

Which is why his horn is a lot lighter than Raidens, his pigment not being able to get to the dark black colour in the middle.

Fujin’s horn is also sharper and shorter. horns round out and drop unused tines as they fully grow with age.

The brothers have their other names that are only used by each other or their patron elder gods. More often only used by the boys in serious or intimate situations. Raijin for Raiden and Futen for Fujin.

This is more a pet peeve but it’s my Au and can do whatever I want: The mk classification of gods pmo so bad so I fixed it.

Elder god: the elder gods, self explanatory. Shinnok, Cetrion, those made at the start of time and who survived the one being. Counsel over the realms and lower deities, elder gods chose what realm they look over and if they’re fond of one, what gods they are patron of. Addressed as elder lord/Lady (insert name and title).

Gods: Gods are created by different means but are made to their set realm and have dominion or embodiment of things like elements and concepts. Made at the start of or early on in their realms history. Fujin, Raiden, Argus etc. addressed as Lord/Lady or Lordess in some realms. “My” lord or lady when being spoken to by by people of their order or under their service. Young gods or gods who haven’t come of age are referred to as young lord/lady and their title begins with “the junvinile god of…etc” (like Kidd thunder :D) Titles are used in introduction and professional settings. After Fujin, there’s been no younger full-gods born across any realm.

Demi Gods: mortals who ascend to a higher rank of power, are awarded the title by a god or elder god or mortals of half god parentage. Liu Kang at the end of mk11, Tremor in mkx, Rain, Taven and Daegon.

1. HANZO HASASHI (MK11 – Scorpion)

What does he get most jealous of?: Another man approaching the woman with a “protective” or overly familiar attitude!His breaking point:

Hanzo is a deeply traditional samurai and clan leader. In his strict code, protecting, looking after, and guiding that woman is exclusively his duty—only those strong, steady hands of his are meant for it. If another man out there starts acting polite toward his wife, gently touches her shoulder to guide her, or steps in to help her in a dangerous situation before Hanzo does… THAT’S IT, GIRL.

The inferno inside Hanzo erupts in seconds. The moment he sees another man displaying that “protective, taking-charge masculine familiarity” toward her, his smoky eyes turn bloodshot. He draws his blade and lunges at the man, declaring with ruthless authority that the woman can only ever look toward his own strong chest for protection, and that no other man will ever be allowed to give her that sense of safety or care.

2. KUAI LIANG (MK11 – Sub-Zero)

What does he get most jealous of?: The woman engaging in a “refined/intellectual” conversation with another man, even if it’s completely polite or elegant—and laughing with him.

His breaking point: Oh, this frozen aristocrat’s pride is something else, girl. And the biggest threat to that pride is the woman forming an intellectual or emotional connection with a stranger. I swear, I’m not even kidding—when she’s out at court events or noble gatherings, and she starts having refined, intelligent conversations with another noble man and gives him that delicate smile… Kuai Liang’s entire Lin Kuei discipline basically explodes in a single second. Those cold, superior eyes lock onto the man with absolute frozen hatred. He wants that elegance, that fresh aura, that intellectual glow of hers to belong only to his icy fortress of a world. With his long, firm fingers he would grip her waist and cut the conversation like a blade, pulling her away with his chilling presence, essentially isolating her back into his “castle,” where her grace and depth are meant to be shared only with his own mind.

3. DARK RAIDEN (MK11)

What does he get most jealous of?: The woman giving even a polite or attentive glance to any mortal in the outside world.His breaking point:

This man, in his red lightning state, is an obsessive and paranoid force of nature—there are absolutely no limits to his jealousy. What drives Raiden insane is when his delicate wife’s doe-like eyes show even the slightest human warmth or politeness toward an ordinary mortal.If she’s simply walking down the street and gives directions to a stranger, or even offers a gentle smile out of kindness… EVERYTHING TURNS INTO A LIVING HELL IN SECONDS.

Raiden unleashes his red lightning instantly with his massive, godlike 2.13-meter presence. As he pulls her behind him with an almost sealing, possessive grip, he stares at the mortal as if he deserves annihilation for merely receiving her attention. He is a being who demands that all of her focus, her presence, even her breath, be devoted only to his divine existence and his crimson lightning—like worship directed solely at him.

4. QUAN CHI (MKX)

What does he get most jealous of?: The woman falling under someone else’s influence or looking at another man with admiration.

His breaking point: Oh, this sinister sorcerer is a full-on control addict and a sadistic psychopath. In his dark world, his wife’s fragile will is meant to be completely enslaved to his spells and his cunning mind. If she’s out in the world and looks at a leader, a stranger, or another man’s strength, speech, or success with gentle admiration—or says something like “what an impressive person”—that’s where it ends.

Quan Chi doesn’t even react immediately. But the sadistic ambition in his pitch-black eyes ignites instantly. With his rune-marked long hands, he grips her chin in the castle and hisses in that eerie voice: “No mortal but me can enchant your delicate mind, your fresh soul. That admiration belongs only to my dark power.”

He completely shatters her psychological state, while the man she admired is quietly dealt with—crippled and erased through his sorcery, unseen. He is a hidden poison, working in silence.

5. SHINNOK (MKX) What does he get most jealous of?: The woman being desired by another man, or any man even laying covetous eyes on her.

His breaking point: Shinnok, with his ancient, trillion-year arrogance, sees the woman in emerald-green silk as the most luxurious and unattainable jewel of his dominion. For a god, having such a magnificent “diamond” be looked at with lust or desire by filthy mortals is the greatest insult to his divine pride.

The moment he senses another man gazing at her delicate figure and flawless skin with desire… Shinnok’s golden-ringed hands clamp down on her waist like an imperial seal.
