From a young age, all Dovekit ever wanted was to be a warrior, defend her Clan and hunt for her fellow Clanmates. But during a particularity brutal storm, a tree fell during a patrol, injuring her right eye and crushing her hindquarters. When she was conscious, she had lost all feeling in her legs and earned a nasty scar down her haunches and right eye. After she had recovered and could move around using her front legs, she wanted to resume training, but Sootstar had deemed her a pain to have in camp—a burden, and nothing more. She was heartbroken and angered, and she lashed out against him, saying he shouldn’t assume her skills just because she was more movement-limited than others. But her leader didn’t listen, and instead gave her another scar on her right shoulder for talking back to him. After that, he concluded that she was broken, and renamed her “Brokensoul”. The Clan was forced to watch as she was confined to the medicine cat den with Marshleaf, who sympathized for her. Instead of letting her sit around and waste away, he tried to engage her by playful chatting about their Clanmates, but every attempt to socialize with her was put down by Shimmerheart’s reluctance to speak to her Clanmates. But one day, Marshleaf was muttering to himself about the state of the herbs in the medicine den and how his failing vision made it hard to organize it all, when Shimmerheart padded up and began to sort the leaves and berries. He was impressed, and soon he learned that Shimmerheart was adept at healing and categorizing herbs and remembering their many uses. He gave her a secret apprenticeship, and under his eye, she learned every herb the Clans knew and their uses, as well as about StarClan and the Clan’s history. When Sootstar found out, he was enraged, and killed Marshleaf for disobeying him. Then, the Clan rebelled—their leader had caused too many deaths for it to go unnoticed. Duststorm succeeded him, and the Clan was finally under stable leadership. He renamed Brokensoul Shimmerheart for her undying compassion and strong sense of what’s right. Her mentor’s death shook her, but her brother honored their relationship by naming on of his kits Marshkit. Now, she serves her Clan without fear and loves to socialize with and help her Clanmates. A brave cat, she will go down as one of the strongest medicine cats of her age, regardless of all the put downs and tragedies she has faced.

Shimmerheart: Warrior of RainClan

Shimmerheart is a former kittypet who joined RainClan as an apprentice. She was very nervous and eager to prove herself when she joined, especially with pressure from the older Clanborn warriors who were still suspicious of outsiders. With her mentor Brightbloom’s encouragement, Shimmerheart blossomed into a fine warrior who was accepted by even the most conservative RainClan cats. She’s a swift and dependable cat, but her insecurities never completely faded. Though she pretends not to care when her kittypet heritage is mentioned, she can’t help but doubt herself. She often wonders whether she’s truly worthy of being a warrior.
