Willam is bored.
Sheâs at one of Courtneyâs friendâs cousinâs parties, and she knows no one other than Courtney herself, whoâd scampered off with some asshole brunette almost immediately after theyâd arrived. Willam is completely alone at a party with shitty beer, shitty music, and shitty company, and sheâs just thinking about taking an uber and leaving Courtney to find a ride home with âBianca!!â when she spots someone of major interest in the corner of the living room.
Sheâs gorgeous. Blonde, a silvery shade of platinum thatâs clearly artificial, with a skin tight black sequined dress and legs for days. Her makeup is dark and smokey, her plump lips set in a thin line as she stares daggers at a couple dancing and laughing on the couch, the cushions practically bent in half under one of the girlâs stilettos.
Willam can relate to that glare.
She makes her way over to the woman with relative ease, adjusting her too short dress and making sure her hair has still retained some of its volume. If Courtney is getting laid tonight, itâs only fair that Willam gets some ass as well.
âNot a fan?â she asks once sheâs near the woman, raising her voice over the music. The woman looks at her with surprise, clearly unprepared to be approached, but her expression quickly falls into one of interest.
Bingo.
âOf the beer or the music?â she asks, revealing a pleasant smokerâs rasp. Itâs sexy as fuck, and Willam is suddenly very much determined to get this woman alone.
âI meant the dancing!â she shouts back, and the woman lets out a surprised laugh.
âWell, theyâre all shitty,â she says, glancing back at the couple. âYouâre the only decent thing Iâve come across so far.â
âYeah,â Willam agrees. âI get that a lot.â
âDo ya?â the woman laughs, and Willam grins proudly.Â
âWillam,â she says. âWho should I make the autograph out to?â
âSharon,â the woman says, her eyes glittering with amusement. âIâm sure I have a photograph of Jessica Simpson around here somewhere.â
Willam snorts, charmed. âGreat. She pays me good for that, you know.â
âSigning fake autographs?â
âItâs a lot of work.â
Sharon hums, smirking, and she brings the beer bottle sheâs holding up to her mouth, her eyes darting back to look at the couple again. Willam follows her gaze, a little irritated that Sharonâs eyes arenât on her and only on her, to find that the couple has moved to sitting on the couch, tongues practically down each otherâs throats. She looks back at Sharon, whoâs now frowning down at her beer.
âGot a problem?â she asks, and Sharon grimaces, a blush dusting her cheeks. Itâs kind of adorable.
âThatâs my ex-girlfriend,â she says. âAlaska. We broke up a week ago - youâd think sheâd have some tact.â
âOnly a week?â Willam asks, distaste curling on her tongue. âJesus.â
âIt just hurts, yâknow?â Sharon says, glancing at Alaska again. âFuck.â
An idea pops into Willamâs mind, a way to get herself what she wants while also giving Sharon something in return (other than her company, of course).
âWell,â Willam says, excitement at the prospect of doing something less than nice making her feel weightless. âKiss me, so they can see.â
Sharon looks at her, startled. âWhat?â
âLetâs make Alaska jealous,â Willam says, eyes darting to Sharonâs full lips with anticipation. âKiss me. Show her youâve got a hot piece of ass, too.â
âArrogant, much?â Sharon cracks, but she looks like sheâs considering it.
âCome on,â Willam wheedles. âYou know you want to.â
âMaybe just a little,â Sharon says, amusement still in the corners of her mouth, and she glances back at Alaska. âFine.â
Willam feels a little thrill of excitement run through her. "Letâs do this, whore,â she says, and she knocks Sharonâs beer bottle out of her hands, the crack of it loud on the hardwood floor. Everyone in the room jumps, including Sharon, and Willam can feel everyoneâs eyes on them.
âHey--â Sharon starts, and Willam puts her hands around her neck and pulls her down for a kiss.
Willam has never had so much fun kissing someone before.
Sharon immediately melts into her, her hands coming down to hold Willamâs waist, pulling her so close that their bodies are pressed flush against one anotherâs. Willam can smell cigarettes on her, taste shitty beer on her tongue, and heat pools in her belly at the way their lips slide together effortlessly.
Willam slides her hands into Sharonâs thick curls eagerly, humming into the kiss, and Sharon smiles. It makes happy butterflies flutter in Willamâs stomach, and the feeling makes her pause, drawing away from Sharon gently.
That had felt an awful lot like a crush, and Willam really, really does not need to develop feelings for a woman not over her ex and that she likely wonât see again.
Sharonâs giving her a bright grin, revealing a tiny gap between her teeth. Itâs incredibly endearing, and Willam shoves the feeling away haphazardly.
âIs she looking?â she asks, and Sharon frowns before something like realization crosses her face, and she looks towards Alaska.
âYes,â she breathes, and Willam turns to find a blonde woman with ratty hair, presumably Alaska, looking at them, clearly upset. The girl sheâd been making out with is on her phone, seemingly uninterested.
Clearly, Willam has inserted herself into some sort of game, one that ends with Sharon and Alaska getting back together after theyâve gotten over whatever theyâve fought over. The way her stomach sinks at the realization is ridiculous - sheâs known Sharon for all of ten minutes. Sheâll be fine.
Even if that had been one of the best kisses of her life.
âLooks like it worked,â Willam says, regret pinching her stomach. âMight as well go over to her.â
âWhat if I donât want to?â Sharon asks, and Willam turns to frown at her.
âWhat?â
âIâm not trying to get back with Alaska,â Sharon says, her mouth twisted up into a wry smile. Her eyes are a little sad. âThat should have been over a long time ago.â
âOh,â Willam says, for lack of anything better to say. Other than âthank godâ, which might be inappropriate. âSorry.â
âI think you should kiss me again,â Sharon leads, and Willamâs stomach flutters again.
âYeah?â she asks, and Sharon smiles again.
âIâm waiting,â she says, and Willam steps up to her again. Sharon meets her halfway.

79 shillam as well please for i am a greedy lady greedy greedy tsk tsk greedy chops xo
gotcha baby ;) (i will be doing the rest of these asks but not yet bc i got work to do lol)
Itâs not often Willam has a quiet evening in.
Of course itâs not. Itâs practically unheard of. She likes to get drunk with her stripper friends and do poppers and do body shots and inevitably end up in her pool (she has a pool, because sheâs an LA slut). Quiet evenings are an abomination, and Willam loves partying.
She doesnât hear the door knock, because sheâs too busy licking someoneâs torso - she canât quite remember the name, but theyâre a friend of a friend - but eventually someone taps her on the shoulder and alerts her to it.
âFeds?â She asks, not sure who sheâs talking to.
âNo sirens.â They reply, shrugging.
Could be late party guests who havenât grasped Willamâs rule of just open my door and come inside. Could be a neighbour asking them to keep the noise down - actually, thereâs no way, since itâs been years since sheâs had neighbours close enough to complain. Malibu is so great if youâre an asshole like Willam.
Could be Sharon Needles. Wearing a University of Pittsburgh hoodie (she definitely didnât go there, so who the hell knows where she got that) and a pair of black leggings patterned with upside-down white crosses (because of course). With no makeup on, a suitcase by her side, and bloodshot eyes.
She doesnât exactly look ready to party.
âGood⊠hello to you, Needles.â Willam greets her, forgetting how to string words together. In her defence, sheâs drunk. And high. And Sharon sometimes makes her tongue-tied. Sheâs done that ever since they met.
(It was back in a juvenile detention centre ten years ago. They were delinquent kids. These days, Willam likes to think of herself as a delinquent adult, because sheâs a performer now and sheâs allowed to drink and do drugs all she likes. Sharon will always be a delinquent, but these days she sings, so sheâs doing alright for herself now. Even if she looks like shit.) (Theyâve both looked worse. At the detention centre. Fifteen was a rough age.)
âI need your help.â Sharon tells her. She fucking looks like it, and all. Sheâs definitely not here to party, then.
âNo?â Sharon questions, and Willam realises she accidentally voiced her thoughts.
âRight. Sorry. Drunk.â She laughs, then squints at Sharon. âYou high?â
Sharon shakes her head. âNo, Iâm just so fucking tired. My flight got cancelled and I canât make it to my gig and I need somewhere to stay. I knew you were close by.â
They made a pact once to always help one another in a time of need.Â
âNo hotels open?â Without trying to be rude, Willamâs in the middle of a party. And Lia Margarita is here. Sheâs not sure who that is, but one of her friends made it sound like a really big deal. Willam thinks sheâs some kind of pornstar.
âI have no money. Got mugged just outside the airport. They got my wallet and phone. I cancelled my cards, but theyâve got the cash. I wouldâve called, but I canât.â
Willamâs going to have a quiet evening. Jesus Christ, this hasnât happened in years.
She beckons Sharon inside, sends her upstairs with the suitcase and tells her to change. Then itâs the tough part - chugging an ice cold glass of water (filtered, because sheâs fancy like that) and shepherding all of her guests out of her house. Drunk, high, attitude-y LA people, being forced out of a house party at 1am? Not so easy.
Willam fights through the protests and gets them gone. It fucking sucks, but thereâs no way Sharonâs gonna sleep with all the speakers blasting, and thatâs her new priority. Not to brag, but one time Sharon described Willam to someone else as the kind of girl who would give you her own shirt off her back if you needed one. Sheâs right - one, because she has this dumb weak kind spot, and two because Willam doesnât see the point in shirts.
Lastly, she goes around the house and shuts off all the speakers. Thereâs so many. A ten minute hunt for the last one finally sees it in the depths of her pool, glowing and flashing, and she remembers that underwater one she purchased for pool parties (all of her parties end up as pool parties). She jumps in to shut it off, dries with a towel, and finds Sharon upstairs.
âThanks. Youâre the best.â Sharon blinks sleepily. Sheâs still in the university hoodie, but sheâs changed into comfy sweatpants and her hair is loose, bleached straw white, and wavy. She pulls Willam into an unexpected, but not unwelcome, hug.
âYou alright?â
âI got mugged. I feel the opposite of alright.â Sharon yawns, but Willam notices sheâs tense. She shifts out of the hug, settling next to Sharon on the bed, and puts her arm around her.
âYouâre safe here. You know that, right?â
It sort of doesnât matter to Willam anymore that her party is cancelled. Because she doesnât know if she means that Sharonâs safe in her home, in her bed, or in her arms, but sheâs happy to note to herself that it applies no matter what.
Sharonâs eyes are big and blue, but heavy. Willam can see them fluttering, threatening to close as Sharon nods her understanding.
She remembers the detention centre. She remembers a rough fifteen year old who didnât trust anyone and never slept because she never felt safe enough to do so. She remembers the insomnia, the screaming, the thrashing.
Sharon falls asleep in her arms because sheâs safe now.
a/n: itâs ya boi, back from holiday with a very Summery bit of nonsense for u all! love to purecamp for just screaming beta-ing this. hope u all like it and if u do, pls hop into my ask box or pop an ask here to show me some love xo

âOrâŠhow about we swap shifts? I take yours now, you cover my beach shift later on. Gives you more time to crack on with the nonentities of reality TV.â
Chad looked initially excited then suddenly narrowed her eyes, following Sharonâs quick gaze over to the three girls on the sunbeds, where the pink-haired one in her line of vision was now arguing with the sunbed-reservers. As Sharon snapped her gaze back to Chad, the other girl was now giving her eyes a colossal roll.
âOh, Sharon, could this be any more of a cliche?â
(4kish oneshot. Sharonâs a lifeguard. Willamâs a dumbass. lesbian au bc itâs me xo)
***
The bright sting of sunlight beamed down onto Sharonâs skin as she frowned, squirted out another huge dollop of factor 50 into the palm of her hand, and rubbed gently at her shoulders. She didnât think sheâd ever get used to the heat over here and she cursed as she watched the other lifeguards wander around the poolside, all gorgeous and tanned and straight out of an ITV2 reality show. Sharon was pale and fair, a combination that didnât mix well with Ibiza in the height of July. She got blisters on her shoulders the first week she came- sheâd never been abroad before and thought that one thick layer of suncream in the morning would be enough to last the whole day. Seven days, various baggy t shirts and three full bottles of aloe vera lotion later, she had learned her lesson.
As she cast her gaze over the resort where a healthy mix of sixth form holidayers, wannabe instagram influencers, and 40 year old men with skin the same tone as a gammon partied or swam or sunbathed away, across the way she caught the eye of a girl on the sunbeds who had already been looking at her. She was lying on her tummy and reading a magazine which was resting on the stone tiles below the sunbed. Her gaze had flicked back down to the glossy pages, pink hair falling over her face as she attempted to disguise the fact sheâd been looking at Sharon just moments ago. Or maybe Sharon was going crazy, which was probably the most likely option. It had been a couple of months since her ex had broken up with her (okay, five - she was counting) and since Phi Phi, she hadnât received the attention of any girls and she was starting to go mildly insane. That was part of the reason why sheâd even applied for the job at Ocean Beach in the first place- the other was that she desperately needed some sun, and when she got offered the job there she accepted in a heartbeat. A whole season away from home would be weird, but really what was she leaving behind? Her one bed flat and a bunch of potted plants she could barely keep alive?
Sharon felt something burning on her again, and this time it wasnât the sun. She slowly, cautiously, turned her head around to the spot she knew the girl was lying down at and, sure enough, she was looking at her again. Only this time she hadnât turned away and was allowing Sharon to take in her blue eyes, surrounded with last nightâs glitter, mascara and eyeliner. On anyone else it would look horrific, but this girl seemed to suit it as if sheâd woken up that day and decided to put her makeup on like an Escher painting. Sheâd evidently put on fresh gloss and her lips were a shining metallic blue, rendering Sharon unable to see what colour they were actually meant to be. She didnât really mind. The girlâs bikini was like holographic dental floss- the bottoms were practically disappearing between her cheeks and the singular strap of the top had been unclipped and was draped on either side of the girlâs body allowing her to avoid a tan line. Sharon was suddenly glad of the mirrored aviators she was wearing which were allowing her to look at the girl without her knowing- which sounded creepy in Sharonâs head, but she justified it by knowing she hadnât been the one that started it. Just then, the girl gave her an exaggerated wink, making Sharon thankful for her sunburnt cheeks as she knew she was flushing the same shade as the neon pink bikini that an Only Way Is Essex star was wearing two sun loungers along from her.
âWillam!â there came a loud shout that cut through the noise of two different sets of speakers, as the girlâs head snapped to the side and glared at two other blonde girls (one tall, one smaller) that had appeared beside her. The tall one was speaking. âGirl! Weâve been shouting across to you for like five minutes! What do you want from the bar?"
As the girl dragged her eyes off Sharon she barely had time to overthink about whether sheâd seemed reluctant to stop staring or not, as she had to blow her whistle at a group of eight boys on holiday together all seemingly trying to drown each other.
***
Sharon boredly swung her whistle around in her hand, the small metal noise box from hell constantly threatening to fly off its lanyard. Sheâd been scanning the side of the pool all of yesterday and all morning but she still hadnât seen a flash of pink hair, and sheâd be lying if she said it didnât disappoint her. She didnât know why this one girl- Willam, Sharon reminded herself- had grabbed her attention so forcefully with just a wink worthy of a Carry-On film and a holographic bikini. Ocean Beach was frequented by beautiful girls with glossy hair, perfect blinding veneers and tans worthy of Greek goddesses, and for the first week sheâd lifeguarded there Sharon had felt like a bitch in heat. But Willam was so different to them. She was almost special because she didnât conform to the classic Ibiza-Barbie beauty standard with her pink hair and messy makeup. Sharon frowned to herself and shook her head before taking a swig from her water bottle. What the fuck was she doing getting so hung up on a random girl she literally hadnât spoken to yet and who she only knew the name of by sheer dumb luck?
She was suddenly distracted by someone leaning against the lookout, and was ready to blow her whistle into their face when she realised it was only Chad. Sheâd completely forgotten that her shift was almost over, and it hit her with a pang of disappointment that she hadnât seen Willam yet. Chad swept her dark fringe out of her eyes and smiled up at her.
"Guess who slept with Rykard Jenkins last night?â she bragged, her poised posture somehow making the whole interaction seem classy. âIâm not naming names but it was definitely me.â
âOh my God. Is he a minor royal?â Sharon gasped extravagantly, placing a hand to her chest and laughing as Chad rolled her eyes.
âYou know he was on Love Island, Sharon,â she glared at her, unimpressed. Sharon gave a chuckle.
âNo, youâre right. I did know that. Does he have a thing for girls whose first and last names usually belong to men? Chad, I donât know how to tell you this, baby,â Sharon stage-whispered down to her friend. âI think heâs gay.â
Chad managed to hold her unimpressed look for all of a second before spluttering out a laugh. âGod, youâre the worst. Remind me why Iâm friends with you?â
âBecause Iâm the only bitch in this place that wouldnât sell your soul to Satan for a bottle of Moet.â
Chad laughed and made to climb up the ladder. âLet me on my goddamn shift, bitch, before I tip this thing over."
Suddenly, something caught Sharonâs eye. Three girls- two blonde, one pink- strutting up to three sunbeds which already had towels on them, flinging them away and replacing them with their own before kicking their wedges off and lying down. Sharon felt excitement catch in her throat.
"OrâŠhow about we swap shifts? I take yours now, you cover my beach shift later on. Gives you more time to crack on with the nonentities of reality TV.â
Chad looked initially excited then suddenly narrowed her eyes, following Sharonâs quick gaze over to the three girls on the sunbeds, where the pink-haired one in her line of vision was now arguing with the sunbed-reservers. As Sharon snapped her gaze back to Chad, the other girl was now giving her eyes a colossal roll.
âOh, Sharon, could this be any more of a cliche?â
âShut up! I donât even know what youâre talking about,â Sharon frowned, mentally kicking herself that her second statement should probably have come before her first. Chad raised an eyebrow to indicate sheâd read Sharonâs mind. âLook, itâs nothing, okay, itâs justâŠsheâs cute, and I want to get to know her."
Chad gave a laugh and climbed down off the first rung. "Well as long as nobody dies because youâre too busy staring at a cute girl. Which one is she, the legs?â
âNo. Pink hair,â Sharon risked a look back over to find that chief-sunbed-reserver-bitch was practically at Willamâs throat. Sharon gave a long blast of her whistle which made the sunbed-reserver drop her towel. âHey! No reserving! You know that shit!"
As the sunbed-reservers slunk off, Sharon didnât miss the beaming smile of thanks that Willam was sending her way. She gave a small, self-conscious salute and turned back to Chad, who was cringing.
"A salute? Girl. Youâre not fucking Little Mix.â
âPiss off and let me make heart eyes in peace.â
So Chad did, and Sharon tried not to focus too much on Willam because as Chad had mentioned, there were many people here that were already more than a few drinks down despite it being 11 in the morning, so Sharon had to watch that they didnât stray too close to the poolâs edge. As her gaze drifted back to the three sun-loungers, she saw that one of them was empty. Willam wasnât there any more, but all her stuff was. As Sharon felt her heart sink with confusion, she was distracted by a deafening cry of âCANNONBAAAAALL!â which was immediately followed by a crashing splash in the water, which soaked many unimpressed Instagram influencers who were trying to perfect their poses on unicorn-shaped inflatable rings. Frowning, Sharon blew her whistle again before she realised who had launched themself into the water- a slick of wet, pink hair floated back to the surface, Willamâs grin plastered over her face, clearly happy that sheâd caused the maximum amount of destruction possible. Nonetheless, Sharon had blown her whistle and she had to commit to it.
âNo bombing!â she yelled across to her, Willam only glaring briefly at her and shooting her a smile.
âCalm down, princess, I ainât Al-Quaeda!"
Sharon tried to stop the quirk that her lips gave. Princess. She definitely didnât like that as much as her body was telling her that she did.
The rest of the morning seemed to pass way too quickly. Sharon was trying to do her job to the best of her ability but she kept getting distracted and her gaze kept being pulled over to the set of three sunbeds to update herself on what Willam was doing. Namely chatting to her friends and sunbathing. Sharon felt like an idiot, willing her to come and walk past her lookout so she could just happen to strike up a conversation with her. Really, though, what the fuck would she say? Hey, Iâve been weirdly lowkey (highkey) checking you out for the past three days and I already know your name even though weâve barely exchanged words. Wanna go out?
It turned out she didnât have to worry as, from the way Willam began to act, it was almost as if she wanted Sharonâs attention. It began when she teetered back from the bar, mojito in hand. She slipped her heels off and made her way into the pool, where she sat her drink at the side and dipped her body into the water. As much as Sharon was taken in by the sight of the neon green faux-snakeskin swimsuit she was wearing and how well it fitted her (definitely not how well it clung to her body), Sharon had to blow her whistle again. Her heart gave a thump when Willam looked over her shoulder at her, straw between her teeth and her damp hair giving a flick.
"No drinks,â Sharon shouted over, unable to stop herself from giving a small smile as Willam rolled her eyes and pouted.
âWho the hell are you, Casper the Nazi ghost?â she yelled back, turning and gesturing to her smaller blonde friend to collect her glass. The girl leant down to Willam and whispered something quietly, the other girlâs face lighting up as if sheâd just discovered Uranium. There was the smallest, tiniest glance to Sharon, so small that Sharon wasnât sure if it had even been directed at her or not.
She soon had her answer.
Around twenty minutes later, and mid-daydream, Sharon was distracted by Willam again. She had floated into her line of vision on a donut-patterned rubber ring, and Sharon was about to admire how gorgeous and tanned she looked when she spotted what Willam had in her hand. Willam seemed to sense Sharonâs eyes on her and she smiled, lifted an enormous, lettuce-and-ketchup filled burger to her mouth and took a huge bite.
The whistle was at Sharonâs lips in around a second.
âAre you serious?!â she found herself yelling over, Willam simply smiling and batting her eyes at her.
âYou want some? Itâs really good,â she said placidly, Sharon rolling her eyes at her so hard they threatened to roll out their sockets.
âGet out the damn pool,â she frowned, narrowing her eyes at Willam before realising she wouldnât be able to see them through her sunglasses. Nevertheless, Willam shrugged and pushed herself towards the steps where she evacuated her rubber ring without spilling a single bit of the burger.
Five minutes later, Sharonâs gaze was pulled from a group of lads on their stag do who looked increasingly close to falling into the water by a huge shout.
âHEY ALASKA, WATCH HOW FAST I CAN RUN!"
Before Sharon knew what was happening, there was a blur of pink hair and neon green, as Willam made a pretty successful attempt to imitate Usain Boltâs first time in six-inch heels. Sharon scrambled for her whistle as Willam came dangerously close to knocking someone who she might have recognised from Ex on the Beach into the pool.
Slightly less attracted to her and now far more annoyed by her, Sharon beckoned the girl over. Willam, for her part, looked more proud than ashamed and she made her way around the cavernous pool over to where Sharon sat perched on the lookout. As soon as Willam reached her and beamed up at her with her perfect teeth however, Sharonâs annoyance faltered. What the fuck was she going to say to her?
"Hey, lifeguard,â Willam quipped flirtatiously, Sharon trying to ignore the tone sheâd taken with her and going straight to bollocking mode.
âRight, what the fuck is your problem? Youâve been fighting with other guests, chucking yourself into the pool like a sea lion, taken your drink into the pool, taken a fucking burger into the pool, and now you want to act like Mo fucking Farah? You almost knocked Jess Impiazzi into the water, are you trying to end up in the papers?â
Willam fiddled with the buckle on her swimsuitâs belt, looking faux-coyly up at Sharon from under her lashes. âJust page 3 of âem.â
Sharon nearly choked. âWell then stop acting like a tit. Youâre at Ocean Beach, not the fucking local lido.â
âWell you appear to be a Drumsticks Squashie masquerading as a human being and no-oneâs pulled you up on that,â Willam bit back with a cheeky smile. She had a dimple near her chin when she smiled. Sharon tried to ignore that and her hurt pride as she self-consciously touched the sleeves of her regulation polo shirt.
âOne more strike and youâre out,â Sharon attempted a withering putdown but her voice seemed to betray the regret she felt in her voice. She didnât want to ban Willam- she really, desperately didnât- but rules were rules, and her manager would come down even harder on her if she continued to let this clownery take place a moment longer. Willam simply gave her a single nod and a flirtatious smile.
âOkay, lifeguard,â she deadpanned, before flicking her hair (which had now gone wavy) over her shoulder and walking off. Sharon sighed. She wished Willam didnât rile her as much as she did. She wished she was less annoying. She wished her legs didnât look so good in her wedges as she walked away- fuck, no.
Sharon tried to completely clear Willam from her mind. She only had around ten minutes until her shift was up, she could hold on til then. That was what she thought until she scanned her eyes over the pool and saw a mess of pink hair face-down in the water, her body starfished and floating on top. Willamâs two blonde friends seemed to have noticed Sharonâs initial panicked reaction and had begun shouting.
âOh my God, Courtney, Willamâs drowning!â
âJesus fucking Christ, Alaska, she is! If only there was aâŠblonde, skinnyâŠkinda paleâŠlifeguard to come and save her!â the smaller blonde shouted. Sharon briefly wondered how many calories you could burn via eye-rolling. Sheâd surely lost a pound today through that alone.
Sharon blew her whistle, walked down from the lookout post and lowered herself into the pool where she swam over to Willam, levered her skinny arms around her neck and swam with her over to the poolside. Positioning her on the steps so she was face-up, Willam gave a dramatic gasp for air and fixed her gaze on Sharon.
âOh my God! That was so fucking scaryâŠI just passed out, I donât know what happenedâŠâ
Sharon tried to ignore the fact that Willam had consciously kept her arms wrapped around her neck. âVery good, Meryl Streep. Get your shit. Youâre barred.â
âWhat?!â Willam cried, her expression contorting into one of outrage and regret stabbing at Sharonâs heart.
âI told you, didnât I? One more strike. Piss off,â she scolded in as strict a voice she could muster. Willam scrambled on the ground, moved to snatch her towel up from her lounger, and then squared up to her. She was standing close. Too close, because Sharonâs head was being filled with all sorts of scenarios and fuck, things would be made so much easier if the girl took just one step back.
(Of course, Sharon herself could have taken a step back. But where would the fun have been in that?)
Willamâs eyes narrowed, but there was still a playful spark in them that set Sharonâs nerves alight. âYouâre lucky youâre cuteâŠâ she began, then flicked her eyes down to the nametag on her shirt. ââŠSharon.â
With that, Willam flounced off with her friends quickly following her, and the death stares they were giving Sharon were offset by the smell of Willamâs perfume which managed to overpower the chlorine coming from the ends of her hair.
***
No matter how bored she was of drunken holidaymakers, overhearing the sunburnt, bigoted expats talking about Brexit, or the mosquitos, Sharon would never get bored of the sunsets here. Mostly they were the standard beautiful orange with a hint of yellow or red or both, but sometimes whoever controlled the skies threw something truly special up there. Tonight the sky was almost entirely pink, different hues of dark red-pink high in the sky fading into cherry blossom, then baby pink and then a bright white strip where the sky met the sea. The calm surface of the water meant that the whole beautiful scene was reflected against the surface, and a mirror image of the sky shone back at Sharon as she sat against a cushioned sun lounger that was usually reserved for paying guests. She sat and drank it all in whilst thinking about home, and Phi Phi, and what she could have done differently. She didnât miss her- she just missed having someone to love. Sharon sometimes felt she had too much love and it always threatened to pour out of her, to burst at her seams.
âYou just give me the ick, Sharon, youâre too much for me!â
The words still stung, no matter how much Sharon was over it.
Suddenly there was a small thump beside her on the sun lounger and Sharon had to stop her heart rising like one of the parasailers they took out to sea during the day. As she turned, it was as if someone was smiling down on her because there sat Willam, burying her own feet in the sand and swaying a little where she sat. Â It had been a day or two since Sharon had seen her last and in that time sheâd managed to entirely fill her head, regret at having barred the girl completely consuming her. Sharon still hadnât stopped looking at her, deigning her much more beautiful than the sunset in front of her. She had chunks of glitter in her hair as well as covering her arms, collarbones and chest.
âHey,â she began, wondering if Willam really had noticed her as she seemed completely intent on entombing her ankles. Willamâs head suddenly gave a lurch to the side and she smiled up at her goofily, making Sharonâs stomach give a dip.
âOh hey. Itâs the strawberry mini milk,â she slightly slurred out, making Sharon laugh despite the jibe.
âOuch.â
âThatâs a joke, by the way. Youâre not that sunburned,â Willam followed it up, her eyes seeming to plead with Sharon to never stop looking into them. âYouâre more like aâŠvanilla mini milk.â
âWhat is this obsession with mini milks?â Sharon chuckled, Willam giving an elongated shrug.
âTheyâre rich in calcium.â
Sharon wondered if this girl was ever going to stop making her laugh. As she quieted down, she noticed Willam had gone quiet too and she was back burying her feet. âYouâll get sand under your nails.â
âMeh.â
âHow was the glitter party, then?â
âTried to chat someone up from the last series of Love Island.â
âOh. Very nice,â Sharon raised her eyebrows, wondering why everyone seemed to be obsessed with these manufactured, airbrushed ideas of what an attractive human should look like. To her, none of them had a patch on Willam.
âNo, bitch, it wasnât nice! Because Iâm still alone, arenât I, instead of getting pounded into the mattress,â she mumbled sadly, Sharonâs heart going out to her for some reason. With a stab to her heart, she realised she hadnât counted on Willam not liking girls.
âWell, youâre not technically alone. Because Iâm with you,â Sharon kept her flirting subtle, part of her not wanting to be deterred. She was rewarded by Willam smiling at her shyly. It seemed out of character.
âWell, Sharon the lifeguard. Since Iâm not-alone-with-you. Tell me things,â Willam leant forward onto her elbows and her head came just that little bit close to resting on Sharonâs lap. Her breath hitched in her throat.
âJLS have had the most number ones out of any other UK X Factor winner.â
âWhat?â
âYou told me to tell you things. Thatâs a thing,â Sharon shrugged lightly, the other girl bursting into a laugh that made her sound like a bike horn.
âNo, you idiot! I meant about you! I want the first draft of the autobiography,â she giggled, and Sharonâs heart sprang to life.
âWell. Thereâs not much to tell really. Was a lifeguard at home before I came out here, just working at the local pool. Canât really tell whatâs easier to be honest. Suppose dealing with drunk adults is a little bit like dealing with children,â she reeled off, suddenly self-conscious about how boring her life sounded. Willam didnât seem deterred.
âHow old are you?"
Sharon was going to make a quip about how it was rude to ask a ladyâs age, but thought she might have been taking it too far there. "Twenty-seven. Probably too old to be working at Ocean Beach, but-â
âOh my God, me too!â Willam cried, drunk and happy. As she rolled onto her back she said something that sounded a bit like âNo age gap, then.â but Sharon was sure her mind must have been playing tricks on her.
âWhatâs your story?â Sharon asked, fighting the urge to rest her arm against Willamâs waist.
â âM a receptionist for some company in the Shard. AKâŠCâŠVIP or something like that,â she waved a hand dismissively, and Sharon laughed.
âWhat do they do?â
âItâs a payments ecosystem,â Willam said dryly, Sharon holding in her laugh for about a second before it came bursting out of her.
âYou definitely made that up.â
âBitch, they definitely made it up! Nobody knows what the hell it means,â Willam cried out defensively, before shifting uncomfortably. âNo one knows what it means, but itâs provocative. This isnât comfy. Hang on.â
Before Sharon knew it, Willamâs head was in her lap and her heart was fluttering dangerously quickly.
âSo how come youâre out here?â Sharon asked, taking her mind off her impending heart attack. She felt Willam shrug.
âSame reason everyoneâs out here. Holiday. Escaping my boring fuck of a life.â
Sharon gave a laugh. âI think most people are out here to get famous.â
âWell in that case, I ainât most people.â
There was a pause before Willam spoke again, in which Sharon, against her better judgement, brought her hand up to tangle in Willamâs hair. She could have imagined it, but she thought she heard Willam give a little purr of happiness. Willam broke the silence all too quickly.
âThe sky looks like the lesbian flag.â
Sharon looked up at the rapidly receding sun and took it all in. âI guess it does.â
âRepresentation,â Willam punched her fist in the air weakly. Sharonâs heart gave a jolt as if sheâd just been pushed down a water slide.
âAs in?â Sharon heard herself asking, willing her voice not to sound too hopeful. She fully expected an answer that was akin to Oh I love the lesbians! Pink is pretty!
âAs in, Iâm getting the representation I deserve?â Willam gestured as if it was obvious. Sharon didnât dare believe what she was implying.
âOh, youâre a lesbian?â she asked casually. Except it didnât come out as casual as sheâd hoped.
Willam turned over so her head was peering up at Sharon, unimpressed. âOh donât tell me youâre some homophobic bitch, because I had you pegged as a butch top and Iâve never been wrong before in my life.â
Sharonâs mind immediately burst into the Hallelujah chorus.
âNo! No, no, no. I mean Iâm not homophobic. And Iâm also gay,â she shrugged, trying to ignore the angels with trumpets that were blasting in her ears. She gave a snort as she realised what Willam had said. âButch?â
âOh yeah, girl. Butch as fuck. Embrace it.â
There was a quiet pause in which Sharon didnât stop playing with Willamâs hair and Willam began drawing against Sharonâs skin with her fingers. Willam was the one to break it.
âWhat 'bout you, bitch? How come youâre out here? You gonna be on Baywatch?â Willam spoke too-loudly, interrupting the moment.
Sharon gave a small sigh. âI broke up with my girlfriend. Well, no, she broke up with me. Moved out of her flat. Got one of my own. The job came up and I had nothing to lose so I just went for it.â
âDamn. Sheâs a fuckinâ idiot. What was her name?"
"Phi Phi,â Sharon said, the words sounding all wrong in her mouth. She was glad when they were out of there.
âShe sounds like a bitch,â Willam shifted so that she was comfortable and her fingers could continue to make patterns against Sharonâs legs. Sharon should have moved further away. She didnât.
Sharon twirled a lock of pink around her fingers, eager to change the subject. âSo wait, who was the Love Islander that-â
âMegan from season four. Sheâs by far the hottest girl to ever grace the show and sheâs bi so I thought I was in with a shot,â Willam pouted up at Sharon. âTurns out she likes brunettes. You look a lot like her actually.â
Sharon gave a laugh that hoped disguised the fact that her pulse was racing. She barely knew the girl, but simultaneously she felt as if they were old acquaintances. They had some sort of inexplicable connection, which sounded crazy but Sharon felt it was true. âComparing me to the most attractive girl ever on Love Island. High praise.â
âNo, youâre the most attractive girl to exist ever,â Willam slurred out, Sharonâs pulse now surely breaking every speed limit to exist.
âYou barely know me, Willam,â she laughed softly, trying not to let the regret tinge her voice too much. Willam narrowed her eyes at her as she stared up.
âHow d'you know my name, bitch?â
Sharon froze. She tried to turn it on Willam. âWell how do you know mine?â
âIt was on your fuckinâ nametag,â Willam laughed, curiosity still in her eyes. Sharon covered her face as she realised she would have to reveal what a massive fucking stalker she was.
âI heard one of your friends shouting on you the other day. Committed it to memory. That makes me sound weird, and it is fucking weird, but I just-"
Sharon was cut off as Willam pushed herself off Sharonâs lap and moved to sit close beside her. Their bodies were touching and some of the glitter from Willamâs leg transferred onto Sharonâs, a little part of Willam that was stuck to her. Willam tucked her hair behind her ears and looked towards the sand in an uncharacteristically demure gesture.
"You know Iâm coming on to you, right? I donât mind spelling it out if you canât tell,â she said, sounding more sober now than she had throughout the entire conversation. Sharon wasnât sure what to do next. She didnât really think she would get this far, happy with admiring Willam from a distance. Now this seemed all so real and possible and not just images Sharon had conjured up in her head before she went to sleep.
âYouâre drunk as fuck.â
âSo were my parents when they conceived me and bitch, here I am,â Willam shrugged, nudging her shoulder against Sharonâs own. Sharon let out a laugh.
âI donât know what youâre trying to convey.â
âIâm saying fuck my blood alcohol ratio and kiss me, goddamnit,â Willam muttered.
Without too much more encouragement, Sharon leaned in and did exactly as she was told. Willamâs lips were soft against hers and the way she took control made Sharon think perhaps she wasnât as drunk as she was painting herself out to be. The kiss was slow and lazy, as if they had all the time in the world, and for a moment Sharon was convinced time really had frozen around them as they could have been kissing for seconds, minutes or hours. All she knew was that she never wanted to stop.
Willam rested a hand on Sharonâs thigh as she pulled away, smiling gently. Sharon hadnât seen Willam look shy often. This was definitely a first.
âHow much have you actually had to drink?â Sharon asked, remembering her earlier thought.
Willam let out a splutter, suddenly blushing. âOne malibu and coke and four glasses of water.â
âBitch!â Sharon exclaimed, Willam descending into chaos-inducing laughter beside her.
âI was afraid you wouldnât be into me! Easier to pass off a failed seduction attempt when youâre drunk. Iâm a good actress, what can I say,â Willam laughed, punctuating her final sentence with a shrug.
Sharon was suddenly filled with a swell of affection. She put an arm around Willam as the other girl rested her head on her shoulder.
âWhen do you fly home?"
"Got another week here,â Willam muttered, sounding suddenly tired.
âI want to get to know you,â Sharon said quietly, as if she was afraid that words would ruin everything. The sun was almost completely set now, the pink sky being overcome with black.
âI want you to rail me on my balcony,â Willam shrugged, and Sharon could tell she was only half-joking.
âThereâs time for both those things,â Sharon kissed Willam on the top of her head, afraid to move her.
âMm,â Willam nodded, her voice coated in sleep. Sharon didnât know what time it was. She wasnât sure if she wanted to. She enjoyed existing in this little time-exempt bubble with Willam, where flights home didnât exist and real life was a distant memory.
âWe should get you back to your room, baby.â
âMmh, no. Wanna stay out here with you.â
So they both stayed on the sun lounger, Willam soon falling asleep and Sharon staying alertly awake until the black sky and platinum stars turned into blue and white with a yellow orb, not wanting to waste a single second in the company of the pink-haired girl asleep with her head on her lap and hoping that the upcoming week would drag slower than any sheâd ever known.
(itâs shillam again bc iâm weak n i love them. pls send all ur love to @artificialmeggie for checking through this for me too pls. also iâm on mobile bc iâm on holiday so sorry if this is horribly formatted)
for the prompt: âno one needs to knowâ
âFUCK!â Sharon exclaims, lashing blindly at her altar before storming to the other side of the room, her enraged stomps drowning out the sound of things tumbling over. She thinks about giving up entirely and throwing herself into the hammock Aquaria had insisted on erecting only to never use, but the combination of her current lack of luck and her lack of faith in her daughterâs carpentry skills convince her otherwise. Thus, she resigns herself to lying face-down on the wooden floor, booting the ground with the toe of her scuffed Dr Martens just for good measure.
âAnd you wonder where I get my dramatic streak fromâŠâ drawls an all-too-familiar and all-too-frustrating voice. Sharonâs daughter Aquaria is perched like a princess upon Sharonâs king-size bed, lounging back against a plethora of throw pillows and lazily waving a hand in the air supposedly to dry her nails. Sharon loves the little nightmare, she really does, but sheâs not in the mood, knows that sheâll snap if she opens her mouth to respond and doesnât want to put that on her. Luckily, Aquaria knows her all too well, not even giving her a chance to retaliate.
âOh, and be careful with the altar. If you kick a candle over and set the place on fire Iâm not taking the blame like I did when you burnt dinner last year. Weâre both too old for that now, itâd be embarrassing.â
Aquaria is ten.
Sharon still doesnât dignify her words with a coherent response, letting out a long, low groan just to remind her daughter of her current suffering and torment. She hears the sound almost immediately echoed from the bed, is unsure whether sheâs being mocked or watching her daughter become herself and is unable to discern which option sheâd hate more.
Lifting her head, she watches Aquaria flounce off the bed and flick her long, blonde hair over her shoulder with purpose, tiny heels clacking as she makes her way across the room, pausing to reassemble Sharonâs altar with what Sharon just knows is a hidden eye-roll. The little brat.
âFine,â she announces in a sharp, impatient tone, as though Sharon had just made a decision or request she wasnât aware of. As well as her flair for the dramatics, it seemed the kid had also inherited Sharonâs general distaste and impatience regarding other people. She was so proud. âIf youâre not gonna talk to me, Iâll go and fetch somebody else for you to rant to.â And with those words she struts out of the room, her little wedge heels clicking against the wooden floors and her hair bouncing behind her, completely ignorant as Sharon calls out half-arsed protestations in an attempt to change her mind, get her to stay instead.
âWell donât you look fucking pathetic?â
âNo. Not you.â The smugness of the voice she hears, clearly revelling in the sight of Sharon, collapsed and defeated at her feet, kills any trust she had in her daughter. Because she could not have made a worse call than fucking Willam if she was really trying to provide her with any modicum of emotional support. When people told her having a kid would be the catalyst of her long impending breakdown, sheâd never imagined this would be how. The little traitor.
The sound of stilettos, almost definitely red bottoms, grows louder and a pang of dread blossoms in her heart as she hears the woman approach, flippant and sarcastic in all the worst ways as she exclaims âWow, okay. I thought we were friends!â
Sharon doesnât have fucking time for her and her dumb games. âYou thought wrong.â
Apparently Willam doesnât have time for her either though, because her snickering suddenly stops, toes digging under Sharonâs side and then lifting as though trying to push her up, obviously to no avail.
âGet up.â
Sharon tries to ignore the way such a demand makes her jaw clench and muscles tighten somewhat.
âNo,â she groans in response, long and whiny, determined to be as difficult for Willam as possible, to wield all her brattish and stubborn parts like a weapon and prolong the experience as much as she possibly can. Itâs probably petty, definitely antagonistic, but sheâs still frustrated and maybe Aquaria is smarter than sheâd thought because sheâd provided her mother with the greatest outlet - someone to wind up.
She relishes in the aggravated sigh she gets in return. âGet off the fucking floor and into that fucking hammock.â
The bite of the demand, the scratchy growl underlying in Willamâs voice as she speaks so plainly and apathetically, as though Sharon is nothing more than a mild inconvenience that wonât behave does something to Sharon. Itâs the indifference of her voice, the way it essentially yells that she knows exactly what to do with Sharon, how to deal with her and why and that she has no doubt sheâll execute this control flawlessly causes a stir inside the woman, her teeth grinding ever so slightly and an involuntary shiver wracking her which seems to be the final straw.
Willam stamps her glitter Louboutins against the ground with enough force to snap the flimsy kitten heels in half, centimetres from Sharonâs head, her ankle brushing the outermost wisps of her hair in the movement and Sharon tries to ignore her body once again, biting back a whimper she knows would be pathetically high and embarrassingly needy as heat pools in her stomach. She mutters a resolute âfuck!â all hard vowels and spiked fricatives, finding comfort in the knowledge that Willam is just enough of a dumb blonde not to understand the true target of her exclamation.
Body protesting, she hauls herself to her feet and plods obediently over to the mesh hammock that hangs low in the corner of the room. Despite her best efforts, she has to admit that perhaps Willam did have a somewhat decent idea, collapsing into the fabric after feeling the pull of temptation deep in her stomach and letting out a small, audible groan at the way her body is so graciously welcomed. Her muscles relax, the brain fog and electric anger causing her current storm-like state beginning to ebb away as she closes her eyes, lies back and just breathes, deep, heavy, slow, and full, like she has all the time and all the oxygen in the world to enjoy. For just a moment, she forgets her not-quite-friend is even there, losing herself in the onslaught of sensations and sinking into her own, private, relaxed little haven of a world. Hell, for a moment she almost considers thanking Willam, a notion that leaves her head almost as immediately as it crosses it, the thought broken apart entirely by the interruption of none other than the woman of the hour herself.
âCute.â In spite of their differences, Sharon has always found great pride in being the only one smart enough to be able to decipher Willamâs different tones and meanings, always picking up on a fake comment, sarcasm and every tiny emotion bitten back behind polite, uncharacteristic words. But when she says that one, tiny little word, Sharon is lost completely, unable to recognise whether itâs her own intrusive and self-absorbed thoughts causing her to detect a chink in Willamâs armour of sarcasm, some modicum of genuine emotion and belief behind the comment. Once again, however, she reminds herself that this is not the time nor place and pushes every thought stemming from it to be suffocated in a dark, faraway corner in her mind. She traps every branch within the area and blocks it up, pressing a label onto the jar of thoughts declaring it for a rainy day. She starts to miss her pre-Willam irritation as the woman clears her throat and continues. â...Anyway. Budge over.â
Still on autopilot, her body made of clay that moulds itself to Willamâs words, she finds herself obliging before sheâs even really processed the words or what they imply, body shuffling closer to the window. With just a half-second of hesitation, Willam gracelessly kicks off her heels and plops herself right next to Sharon, a little off-centre so the hammock swings slightly as her shoulder collides with Sharonâs chest, grappling helplessly for an anchor to the rocking fabric and finding it, unfortunately, in Sharonâs t-shirt, her fingers clinging so tightly to the neckline that the tips dig into the soft flesh of her tits. A small part of Sharon - a wayward thought that had just about escaped the rainy day trap - secretly hopes that Willam has pressed hard enough to leave little marks in her skin, a visual reminder of her touch, the collision of her body with Sharonâs.
As the choppy movements of the hammock slow and eventually still, Willam begins to maneuver herself into a more comfortable position, rolling onto her front and overlapping the leg closest to her with her own. Her grip on Sharonâs top remains tight, her body seemingly trying to accommodate that one point of contact in the most convenient and comfortable way, resting her head atop and then above Sharonâs shoulder when the former doesnât work out, face tilted towards her so that her breath bats softly against Sharonâs cheek and the slight bulge of her small chest pressed against Sharonâs left arm, rendering it dead and absolutely useless. Not that Sharon minds. Not that Sharonâs not going to pretend she does mind.
âUhâŠ. Will?â she asks cautiously, humiliated by the way her voice cracks ever so slightly, how overall delicate and gentle it sounds. Willam bumps against her in acknowledgement. Every part of her body that has the luxury of feeling Willamâs burns, the originally warm feeling growing more scalding and deadly the more she thinks about and accepts it. So she tries to amp it up a bit, this time almost obnoxiously loud and abrupt as she asks, âWhat the fuck are you doing?â
âCuddling you.â She halts for a moment as though thatâs it, a horrendously obvious and yet cryptic answer, smirking at Sharonâs disapproving frown. Apparently, the expression was yet another step too far, and the stirring in her stomach starts up once again, this time the heat a result of a chemical reaction as lust and fear mingle together in the most addictive of ways as Willamâs face hardens, eyes stony and cold, her whole demeanour, despite being wrapped around Sharon, clearly indicating her aggravation. When she speaks, itâs snappy and abrupt again, the Willam that Sharon knows and therefore knows how to deal with - a no-nonsense bitch with a heart layered with stone and gold that knows exactly what sheâs doing and why, and that itâs not really any of your business, thank you very much.
âFine!â she snaps, eyes rolling so hard itâs a wonder she doesnât do herself permanent damage. âI tried to be nice about it!â Sharon isnât sure whether to believe that, the push and pull between them being so off and inconsistent all day that sheâs actually never felt more on edge around Willam yet somehow never felt more comfortable around her either. Sheâs not so sure how nice that really is. âLike it or not, youâre a repressed little dyke whoâs throwing her toys out her pram like a fucking toddler because she needs a hug and sheâs touch starved by other woman. Iâm trying to deliver.â
This time, the heat that had been pooling in her stomach doesnât burn her or frighten her, instead spreading through her body as an almighty warmth, accomplices to the warm arms that wrap around her as Willam finishes speaking. Itâs horrifyingly difficult not to react, as always with Willam, for an entirely different reason. Because Sharon has always prided herself on understanding Willam and the emotions and messages underlying in her words, and this one is clear as day - Willam cares. She notices, knows Sharon even if neither of them like the thought of that, and cares enough to want to help even when she knows sheâs going to get nothing good out of itïž. Sharon had wondered why of all people Aquaria had approached Willam, but the painstaking tenderness of her words and her touch leaves her wondering whether Aquaria even asked her at all, a thought far too exhilarating for her to continue thinking. Nevertheless, she makes a mental note to thank her daughter when she eventually returns, considering that maybe the new sewing machine sheâd been begging for isnât too expensive after all. Her head spins as she bites back a grin, trying to return to her permanently antagonistic state and diffuse the tension between them so thick, palpable and tangible it feels like a weapon.
âThis is still too weird.â Her tone is so unconvincing, so wobbly and quiet and indirect she doesnât even believe herself. Willam snickers.
âWell suck it up, bitch, Iâm not here to ruin your image! No one needs to know Emo Goddess 666 needs a good hug sometimes.â She shuffles closer, every bitchy and humorous facade long gone from her expression. The thought of such vulnerability and trust between them threatens to swallow Sharon whole. Willam winks, nosing at Sharonâs chin as the arm clutching Sharonâs shirt finally releases the garment and rests lazily over the womanâs waist, a warm, protective anchor against all the shit sheâs thought all day, week, year. âOr that she gets them.â
This time Sharon hums, too content and heavy-lidded to try and muster up a response. In another universe, she corrects Willam, reminds her that sheâs goth, not emo, biting her lip and squeezing her thighs together as Willam tells her to shut the fuck up before she makes her. In this universe, however, Willam accepts the hum as a sign of Sharonâs begrudging complacency and trust, the sparks of hope that signify a new beginning almost visible were it not for how deeply sheâd buried her face into the crook of Sharonâs neck at this point, the two of them entangled as though they belong this way. And maybe they do, so Willam pushes her luck, it seems.
âWe need to talk about what happened last night.â
Willam shook his head as he gathered his clothing from the floor. âNo, we donât.â
Sharon sighed, standing up and shutting the bedroom door, effectively barring Willam from leaving. âWillam, we canât just pretend that last night never happened.â
Willam put his hands on his hips. âWhy canât we? We were drunk, we had fun, and now itâs over.â
âNeither of us were as drunk as weâre pretending we are, and you know it. Last night was so much more intense than any other hookup Iâve had, Willam, you had to feel it too.â
Willam crossed his arms, blank-faced. âWhy does that matter?â
Sharon had to tread carefully, knowing that one wrong move could send Willam bolting. She stepped a little closer, taking Willamâs hands in her own. âI know that you like me, Bill. Have you ever even considered the idea that I might like you just as much?â
âBut you donât,â Willam said flatly, refusing to make eye contact. Sharon tipped his chin up, forcing him to look into her eyes.
âThink again,â she said, connecting their lips. When she pulled away, Willam could barely hide the smile on his face.

âWeâre going downtown, Katya,â Sharon says for what feels like the 87th time, ânot a strip club.â
âThereâs a strip club downtown,â Katya tells her, wiggling her eyebrows. Sharon lets out an exasperated huff.
âIâm sorry, is this your bachelorette party?â Sharon asks, raising an eyebrow. âOr is it Rajaâs?â
âI wouldnât mind a strip club,â Raja says, shrugging, because she doesnât know the meaning of the word âloyaltyâ. Irritation flashes hot in Sharonâs chest, and she turns to give Raja a disbelieving look.
âYou told me last week you wanted to âstay classyâ,â Sharon says, using air quotes.
âLast week I wasnât listening to you and Katya argue about it,â Raja says, and she stands, shaking the little flapper dress she has on and grabbing her purse. âBesides, itâll be like a last hurrah. Raven thinks clubs in general are gross, so thereâs no way sheâll go to a strip joint with me.â
Sharon lets out a breath. âI made reservations at Chachkiâs, Raja. Chachkiâs. For you.â
Raja shrugs. âCancel them,â she says. âIâm more in the mood for cheap burgers, anyway.â
âI hate you,â Sharon mutters, grabbing her handbag. Katya claps, grinning.
âReady to see some ass, ladies?â
Sharon rolls her eyes so hard she sees white.

Sharon is fucked the moment the second dancer steps on stage.
They arrive just in time to see the tail end of the previous act, all huddling together at an empty section of the stage, laughing as they push through middle aged men and what looks like a bachelor party. Sharon cracks a smile as Katya waves the stripper goodbye as she gathers her tips, giving the audience one last glance through hooded eyes before she slips behind the curtain, a different song beginning.
Sharon feels herself relaxing, her initial tenseness wearing off. Sheâs always hated strip clubs for the sole reason that she hates being lumped in with the men that frequent them, cheating on their wives or just using the women as objects in their own sexual fantasies, and she hates feeling like their predatory gazes are in any way comparable to her own. But the dancer had seemed to be enjoying herself, the men in the audience calling her name like theyâve known her for years, and Sharon finds herself ready to have a good time, straightening a ten dollar bill in anticipation of the next performer.
Then, Willam steps out on stage.
One of the men shouts her name once she steps out, clad only in a cheap blue t-shirt that goes down to her knees and a shitton of blue body glitter. She has thick, wavy blonde hair streaked with purple, pink, and blue, and she wears a smug smirk on her face as she grabs the pole, pointing her shiny black stilettos daintily as she circles it.
Sharon is entranced.
âNice to see some lesbians tonight,â Willam shouts, grinning over at Sharonâs party, and Sharonâs heart jumpstarts at the unexpected attention. Willam winks, and she points at them. âThis is for yâall!â she says, and Sharonâs heart stops as she rips off the t-shirt, revealing a toned stomach and a lacy black bra and panties, gartered together like they werenât already sexy enough on their own.Â
Willam hits the beat of the song, grinding her hips at the pole sheâs still holding onto, and Sharonâs heartbeat drops down between her legs.
Willam doesnât spend much time with the pole, instead twirling around it for another moment or two before she struts down the stage, grabbing one of the menâs bills and sliding it down her chest, between her breasts and along her stomach until her fingers are just underneath her panties, where she leaves the bill poking out like a badge of honor.Â
She can hear Raja and Katya hollering and wolf-whistling, throwing money at Willam with abandon. All she can do is gape, her own dollar bill forgotten in her clenched fists, unable to take her eyes away from Willam and her glittery smirk.
Sharon shouldnât be so turned on by this. Or should she?
Sharon knows that youâre supposed to be attracted to strippers - but not this attracted, right?
Willam does a little move with her hips, falling to her knees to take more bills from the men, making her way around the circular stage. Sharonâs breath catches at the sight.
Willam crawls over to where Jinkx is waving a few bills, and she takes them in her mouth, only to take them out again to slide them into the front of her lacy black bra, making sure her touch lingers there for a moment too long. It isnât anything that Sharon hasnât seen before, but her stomach still bottoms out, heat burning in her belly at the sight.
The heat in her belly drops a little lower as Willam gives Jinkx a little half smile, blowing her a kiss. Sharon really, really wants Willam to smile at her. She really, really wants a kiss, too, maybe.
As if sheâs just read her mind, Willam turns to face Sharon and the ten dollars she has crumpled in her hands, clenched together in her lap, and they make direct eye contact. Suddenly, Sharon canât breathe.
She manages to hold Willamâs stare for around .5 seconds before sheâs tearing her gaze away, horrified at the blush she can feel burning across her cheeks and feeling like sheâs just been caught staring. Which, she has, but thatâs what sheâs supposed to be doing, right?
Leave it to Sharon to get a crush on a stripper sheâs known for the entirety of one minute.
She keeps her gaze firmly on the ground, ignoring the way Raja is hooting at her, until fingers are suddenly hooking themselves under her chin, lifting her face up. Willam stares back at her, smug smirk firmly in place.
âGot somethinâ for me?â she asks, and Sharonâs mouth goes completely dry as Willamâs hands smooth over her shoulders, fingers finding Sharonâs bra strap and pulling it back, letting it snap softly back against her skin. Sharon prays that the tiny gasp she lets out is inaudible.
This has to be illegal. Or against the rules. Or something.
Sharonâs brain is short circuiting, holding her breath as Willamâs long nails trail down her arm, gently unfolding her fist to take the ten dollars, her eyes never leaving Sharonâs. Sharon raises her eyebrows at her, some of her dignity returning with the absence of Willamâs touch, as she tucks the money into her bra.
âYouâre just gonna take it?â she asks, teasing, and Willamâs eyes glitter.
âSorry,â she says. âHere, Iâll make up for it.â And then she weaves her fingers into Sharonâs hair, and pulls her in for a searing kiss.
Itâs sloppy, glitter gritty on Willamâs lips and Sharonâs own lipstick too thickly applied, but the feeling of Willamâs mouth against hers is still burning, thrilling in a way that has Sharonâs toes curling. Willam pulls back too soon, and Sharon can help the whine that leaves her throat. Willam winks at her, before she pushes herself back to her feet, moving over to the pole again.
The bachelorette party is staring at her gleefully, and Katya slaps her on the arm, hard. âAnd to think you didnât want to go!â she cries, and Raja stares at her, her mouth parted in shock.
âIâm the bride,â she says. âIsnât this shit supposed to happen to me?â
Sharon shrugs, pretending like she doesnât feel her cheeks burning. âMaybe Iâm just the hottest one here!â she shouts, turning back towards Willam. Sheâs still at the pole, lifting herself and spinning around it, her arms so toned and strong that Sharonâs knees go weak at just the thought of them wrapped around her waist.
âLetâs not get too carried away,â Raja yells into Sharonâs ear, the thumping bass of the songâs chorus rendering her still nearly inaudible. âTry not to get jealous when she gives someone else special attention!â
Sharon bites her lip at that, coming down from her high, a little.Â
She wants her kiss with Willam to be special, one of a kind, but she steels herself for when Willam leaves the pole for the men again, accepting her fate.Â
Except, Willam never does.
She sticks to the pole for the entire rest of the show, and Sharon hopes sheâs not imagining the glances she keeps sneaking at her, her expression intrigued. Once sheâs off stage, Sharon excuses herself for a smoke break, feeling jittery and far too flustered to watch someone else grind their way across the stage.Â
She makes her way to one of the exits, sighing as the cool night air hits her face, sliding a cigarette between her lips and lighting it quickly. She inhales, the nicotine instantly doing wonders on her nerves, and she relaxes against the brick of the building.
âIt wonât work.â
Sharon jumps ten feet into the air, whirling around to find Willam on the other side of the exit, a lit cigarette between her fingers. Her stomach drops, and she scrambles to pull herself together enough, trying not to freak out at the prospect of speaking to Willam face to face after what had happened during her performance.
âWhat?â
âYouâre not going to get over me that easily,â Willam says, that smirk curling up in the corner of her lips again. Sheâs still completely covered in glitter, but her hair is pulled into a messy bun, a sweatshirt and short shorts pulled over her lingerie. Sharon thinks she might be the prettiest girl sheâs ever seen. Sharon bristles a little at her words, blushing.
âWho says thatâs what Iâm trying to do?â she asks, defensiveness creating an edge to her voice.Â
âI do,â Willam says, and she steps closer. Her perfume smells like heavy spices, and Sharon fights the urge to breathe in deeper. âThat kiss was something. I canât be the only one that felt it.â
Sharon feels herself softening, frowning at Willam thoughtfully. âIâŠâ she trails off as Willam takes another step closer. âYou werenât,â she settles on, and Willamâs smirk turns into a half smile.
âGood,â she says. âBecause youâre hot, and I wanna talk to you without twenty other people begging for my attention. Howâs that sound?â
âGreat,â Sharon breathes, her heartbeat quickening. âPerfect.â
âGood,â Willam says again. âIâll give you my number later. Right now, I kinda just want to kiss you again.â
âTesting to see if the spark is still there?â Sharon teases, her eyes already glued to Willamâs lips. She can see where her lipstick is smudged from when theyâd kissed earlier, and heat runs through her body at the thought of messing it up even more.
Willam shrugs. âWhatever works,â she says, and Sharon meets her in another kiss.
Shillam + Breaking Character and/or Girl Next Door
alright letâs do this - breaking character
instinct: spies au, or secret agent. iâm going with secret agent. (heavily inspired by the writingâs on the wall bc that song kinda slaps and i have had a fic plan around the song for AGES). iâm thinking sharon is some kind of villain - sheâs the daughter of an extremely successful and manipulative mafia boss who was recently killed by a government operation, and theyâre aware sheâs going to take over the business and will 100% want revenge and 100% has the legal support from the various leaders theyâre puppeting etc
they send in willam, a secret agent, as a sort of femme fatale, planting her as a key witness to an operation of theirs that deliberately fails, and âexchanging information against themâ in exchange for her life, and then begins infiltrating them. she ends up growing very close to sharon as her goal is to seduce her and they talk often about sharonâs plans, her problems, the running of it all, etc, and willamâs loyalites quickly become divided as sheâs unsure what she should do
the final operation date starts growing nearer and nearer and sharon is stressed bc she has some important deals happening and willam is stressed bc she wants sharon to succeed/survive but also wants to complete her mission???? and she regrettably leaks the secret location where sharon is supposed to pick up... something (drugs? weapons? probably weapons) but when they get there, itâs totally empty and on the walls some cocky agents have spraypainted âITâS OVER, NEEDLESâ before they come out and grab her
sharon sees willam and the betrayal hits her so hard that she doesnât bother to fight back even though sheâs armed bc how dare she allow herself to be so easily infiltrated and her late father would be so disappointed - then willam shocks her and brings in some of sharonâs guys to combat the CIA/FBI/whoever deals with this and helps her make her escape bc sheâs decided where she stands after all
ok but when u get a chance do Shillam and Don't Delete The Kisses đđ
okay okay okay i had to take some time to think (and also do work i have so so much of it) and i think i got something (also not necessarily inspired by the song/lyrics but i did listen bc vibes)
ANYWAY the fic premise is, willam is attending some kind of rave (please forgive my lack of actual knowledge about raves but u know, skimpy bright clothes and makeup and drugs and flashing lights and loud music) and sheâs completely off her tits having the best time of her life, and as sheâs wandering and dancing she finds a space away from the crowd but still able to hear the music and she just lays on the ground and lets the world spin and sort of blankly giggles at nothing, right? and then she hears a thud but she didnât feel anything so she doesnât react until a face appears next to hers and she realises this girl has tripped over her, just starts laughing and sheâs like âheyyy girl! u want some?â and they start sharing their little stashes and giggling at nothing and end up dancing together and making out well into the early hours of the morning
at some point they exchange numbers but when willam gets back to her hotel on a massive come down and then adjusts back to the real world she sort of looks at it as this weird spiritual experience and she was so high the whole time that sheâs not even entirely sure this girl (sharon? her name was something like that) was even real
that is until she receives a text from a number that she has saved but with a completely unintelligable contact name that says âletâs do that again sometime babe xâ and sheâs floored bc it actually happened?? wha???
they start texting as willam goes back to work as a performer in a couple of bars and clubs around town and theyâre sorta flirty and reminiscing and admittedly they donât remember much but itâs all in good fun, sharon always sends a little x at the end of her messages and willam wants to but sheâs like... i made out with this girl once at a rave so i will Not allow myself to become obsessed w her...............
