2 years ago today my Best Friend was taken from me by Leukemia. 2 years ago today I lost a piece of my soul and my platonic soulmate. I couldn’t post about it last year and this year it’s still hard. But I wanted to mark this day as the day that I probably will never feel ‘okay’ about again. It’s a day that’s always going to, deep down, make me feel sad and alone and upset even if I’m no longer actively thinking about it. But it’s a day I want to remember because it’s a day that I lost someone so important to me. She was the reason I am here today to make this post because without her I would have been dead at 19 years old. I would have killed myself.
Today marks the second year I have lived through where she isn’t here anymore and it’s only because I knew her and loved her so much that I know I have to keep making through each year even when it’s hard. I have to remember to cherish the people I love because they could just be gone someday. The things I learned and how I grew is in thanks to her in some ways and I would not be who I am had I never known her. So I want to thank her.
Please don’t take for granted the people who matter so deeply to you, who influence you to be more than you are right now. Who help you grow and change for the better and who’s presence is enough to be a pillar of stability in your life.
Shi, I will never have the same stability in my life that I had while you were alive but it’s because you lived that I have the strength to still carry myself through each day and for that I will always be eternally grateful. I love you, sweetheart.
