Classic shortbread cookies are buttery and delicious. These delectable treats are ideal for any occasion.
Ingredients: 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 325F 165C. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms. Do not overmix. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until smooth. Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes and place them on a baking sheet. Prick the cookies with a fork to create decorative holes on the surface. Chill the cookies in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes before baking. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes. Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, store the cookies in an airtight container. Enjoy these delicious shortbread cookies with your favorite hot beverage!
