Gender non-conforming children shouldnât go to Specsavers...
Specsavers have joined the ever-growing list of stores which unnecessarily gender childrenâs products, introducing separate sections for boysâ frames and girlsâ frames.
This is not only sexist, as it assumes girls must like certain styles of glasses and boys must like others, preventing them from considering all options, it also ignores children who are gender non-conforming or non-binary.
Specsavers already separate adult frames into women and menâs sections. Now they are limiting childrenâs choices too.
Choosing glasses is difficult enough for children, who may worry that they will be bullied for wearing specs, without forcing them to conform to gender stereotypes.
Letâs stop this from going any further.
