Poker face expert vs Zero Filters: fight
1) Hi Christine! No question this time, just a HUGE THANK YOU. Thank you for all your posts about "rethinking" the audition process, seeing it more like a showcase, a "this is me today and I'm happy to share it with you" moment and not a judging one. Thank you for reminding me to root for myself, to have fun and to be the best me that I can be. Today, after reading and rereading these posts for years and especially in the last few months, it finally clicked. [cont.]
I had an audition and I remembered all of this and IT’S TRUE! It took so much weight off of my shoulders to go there without thinking that I was my audition. Without fearing the competition of the other people in the lobby. I genuinely entered the room smiling, with the goal of having fun and I did! I had picked a song that I always enjoyed singing and the whole time I kept in mind that I was sharing my love for this job with them - just like when I go on stage to actually perform, where, even though I’m obviously nervous, I’m also eager to share something with the audience. At the end of the audition I knew I had done my best and if it fits the show it’s great! But if it doesn’t, it’s okay too. So THANK YOU for reminding me to “fearlessly accept and celebrate” who I am, especially during auditions. Auditioning won’t ever be the same for me, from now on.
This is such an incredible story, and I can’t tell you how excited I am that you had this experience. Gamechanger! Fearlessly accept and celebrate who you are, what a wonderful mantra for all of us to work towards.
About the Rise ask: do you ever think at the way the troupe kids spend their time outside school, together as a group or in couples? Just thinking about it, not necessarily for a fic. What do you think of? I love these kids and I miss them so much.
my dad and i were actually discussing this a little while ago! he brought up how kids in teen dramas always have a place where they hang out (riverdale has pop’s, glee has that coffee shop) and he asked if rise had one and honestly if it did i think it would be volpe’s? i know we only see it a few times but it has that Vibe and both the football players and the theatre kids and god knows who else go there (in season 2 i bet there would have been a fight between those two groups when they both try to go there after practice/rehearsal i’m calling it now)
beyond that, i live in a town that’s a lot like stanton (small, rural, in the middle of nowhere) so i’m trying to think of what kids here like to do. we have a town square that looks sort of like the street that the diner is on where kids like to hang out, sometimes in the coffee shop/speakeasy (we don’t go the speakeasy because we’re children but we know it’s there), sometimes at the comic book store, sometimes at the regular bookstore but a lot of the time people just walk around on the streets. we’ve also got a movie theater and people like to go there a lot, not necessarily to see movies but to just hang out in the arcade (i work there and the manager hates it but he really can’t do anything about it lmao). i can see rise kids hanging out in all these places the same way i do and i think that’s one of the reasons why i had that instant connection to the show

FF used to be THE forum website, its glory days are over but it's still quite popular and a great place to talk about a show!
