Jack felt like he was being followed. Being a master of stealth himself, it was not a feeling he was fond of, and his unease was accompanied by a particularly heady concentrated mix of both ominous foreboding and an unmistakable tinge of evil. 

He had put off turning around for the last five minutes, as when he has glanced over his shoulder the other two times, there had been no one there…. But now, now he was certain. Slowing his pace and mentally counting himself in, the weary looking sprite whipped around to find-

A sheep.

A ram, to be exact… He hadn’t heard his hooves clopping against the pavement at all, so its sudden appearance was quite a mystery. An unsettling conundrum indeed.

Jack merely stared for a moment, trying to deduce how the animal had gotten there, but the longer he stayed, the more intense those negative emotions became, and scuffing his heel awkwardly against a stone slab, the boy wet his bloodless lips and spoke.
