Imo, there are multiple implications and metaphors for each monsters in reanimal, and each can be related to multiple children.
To me, the Pelican is the metaphor for the military or power. It’s mainly Bandage’s monster, but what it stands for is related to all the orphans.
The Mother is Bucket’s monster, but the want of mother is what all the orphans are facing.
The Lamb is deeply connected to the Girl, but also a child of all the five orphans, and a clearing for all of what they’ve done.
However, Sniffer… personally I can’t find any other connection to the orphans beside Hood. Everything about him is too definite. He IS, and is JUST, Hood’s monster.
