Peter quill is a bad example of toxic masculinity when he is clearly soft and loving towards his loved ones

peter quill is one of the best examples of overcoming the insidious influences of toxic masculinity that affect everyone in our society ā including good people. thatās whatās so compelling about the throughline of his arc in the gotg films; peter isnāt a bad person, but is in fact a very good person who cares a lot about both the people heās close to and complete strangers, and who really wants to do the right thing when push comes to shove. he has, though, been raised in toxic masculinity central (i.e. the culture of the ravagers) and hasnāt dealt with his trauma/learned how to cope with his emotions in a healthy way, so we see him falling back on a lot of the tendencies that heās learned growing up in the environment that he has.
but the fact that he can see just howā¦ toxicā¦ toxic masculinity is, and actively choose to reject it, speaks to a great deal about his character. and for me, with this particular arc, heās one of the best male protagonists ever put to film, in addition to just being, like, my personal favorite.
(i think iām interpreting this right ā itās been a long day, lol. but yesā¦ peter is a good man with a huge heart who devotes himself entirely to his loved ones, and goes through an arc that directly confronts toxic masculinity and is, at his core, basically the antithesis of it!!)

I totally agree about what you wrote about the starmora kiss, I adore this scene but it was a little weird how Gamora was really leaning into him, hand on his chest and everything, and he sort of just stood there?? Idk I mean, it's Peter we're talking about. The guy is so in love with her and he's so expressive of his emotions, so I found it weird, too
Like yeah, there is some distance between them and I canāt understand it completely? It felt very out of character, for me at least.
He wants to give her space, or they were caught too many times on this ship that they keep the distance between them on purpose (they were interrupted anyway tho)???Or he is just bewildered by whole situation? She all cries and begs him to promise to kill her when needed so idk, maybe he process this whole thing in this moment so he kinda freezes?? WHO KNOWS (or... I know who would know but rn reaching to any of the creators is rather hard)
Nebula deserves to kill thanos (bonus if she uses gamora's sword)!!!

It's funny to me how in season 1 when Winston just arrived I felt kinda meh about him and now he's my absolute favorite, if there's one thing I love is his character development from season 2 onward (I just needed to take this out and I don't know many new girl blogs sorry š )
Yeah same! I think Winnieās character development was great he just got so much better when they started to embrace his weirdness and I think a lot of that is due to lamorne as well. I think they did a great job in making each of the characters unique
