Time for the shark of the day (I really need to be more consistent with these) The Megamouth Shark! (In courtesy of @jdoeseverythingwrong):

Here are some fun facts:

- is a filter feeding shark (much like the Whale Shark)

- They are deep sea fish

- was discovered in 1976 near Hawaii when one was tangled in the anchor of a US Navy ship

- are very rare and fewer than 300 specimen have been found as of 2025 (it’s out of date ik)

- No aquariums currently house a megamouth shark

- they are slow swimmers and have bad muscle structure

Anyway these guys are cutie patooties and I hope @jdoeseverythingwrong is happy with me <3

Today’s shark of the day! The whale Shark:

(They are my personal favorite shark)

-They are the largest fish, spanning up to 60 ft long

- Every Whale Shark has a unique pattern of stripes and dots on its back

- They live long spans of time, typically 70-100 years!

- They migrate a lot to different feeding grounds, usually thousands of miles

- Despite their big size, they are actually very gentle

- The Georgia Aquarium is the only aquarium in the United States to house a whale shark, he is a male shark named Yushan, he got to the aquarium with a fellow whale shark named Taroko who sadly passed August 2025
