The real days of periods are not like women running around and jumping, as we see, in a sanitary napkin advertisement on television. For some it's like a normal day, for some it's the pain of hell. Starts with a piercing pain in the stomach, back pain, headache, muscle pain, vomiting and they can't stand, sit or sleep. Seven consecutive days of bleeding that men can never think or imagine. In between, there's also this bout of depression, stubbornness, frustration and mood swings that comes out of nowhere. Only those who have experienced this will understand. Mother, wife, daughter, sister or partner or friend are all going through this situation, every other month. Everyone needs a bag to do this. Since everyone is sharing to change the trend and positive motivation. Here's my story, I got married on Sunday 12th April 2020 when lockdown was at its peak. On Wednesday we decided to get married, our families alhumdulilah agreed happily. We followed the SOPs for safety and in the meanwhile we arranged everything. On Sunday morning, 8 guests came into my home and Nikkah was done. After Zuhr we 5 people went to my inlaws, had a get together and lunch and in Asr Rukhsati took place and by 4pm we were home safe and sound. No Mehndi, No bridal shower, No Jehaz, No demands, No photography showoffs, No expensive dresses, No Musical function, No burden or anything like that. Point is, it can be done if you can take a stand. They say that the best friend one can have is a sister. In my case, I certainly feel that way!❣️ Despite having alot of friends, many of whom are very close, no one quite comes close to my sisters. I have always been incredibly loved and pampered. And I’m immensely grateful for having my sisters. They are more than I could ever need in my life. Yet somehow our society pities us for not having a brother. There have been more incidents that I can count where someone asks me about my siblings and every single time I tell them about my two amazing sisters the response I get it is heartbreaking and disappointing. “Bhai nahi hai kya?” “Oho koi nahi Allah bhai de ga” “Ek larka ho jata tou acha tha” All these and a many more! I don’t get this obsession our society has with having a son. To my parents, there is nothing my sisters and I can not do that a son would have been able to do. However so many of the literate, educated people I come across think there should be a male in the family.  I think it’s high time we learn that a girl is just as valuable, if not more valuable, than a guy.
