Those are the words you learn as kids, to make you strong when you get picked on. When kids talk behind your back and they donāt want to play with you.
You believe that these kinds of things only happen in childhood, but the fact is the behavior sticks in every society, everywhere you are.
As little kids may say it in front of your face that they donāt like you, adults are different. Many people grow to have ādouble standardsā which is a fancy word for having two faces or maybe more.
You learn to be political, diplomatic, look nice and good to get others trust but you talk behind their back harshly, you maneuver around to get what you want, and you will always believe what you did was right. As a little kid I was taught by a dear friend to never pretend to be friends with a person you donāt like. When you pretend It would mean that youāre deceiving and talking behind their backs would only hurt the person more. Her words was "you make yourself become sinful for pretending". Illogical heck we were kids.
Sometimes as humans with sensible feelings you forget and you gossip. You speak of words as mean that it can actually hurt someone mentally, you do it for fun, revenge, or pure anger and disappointment. You think you can trust the person youāre talking to but the fact is you canāt. The words will get to the person you talk about.
Perhaps this doesnāt mean anything to you, but what if the person being talked about is you?
Directly offending, indirectly people talk behind your back and they donāt trust you. You have a hunch, especially with social network now days expressing what people are thinking and feeling.
Itās okay when the person who hates you is a person that you barely know and have no connection at all, but what if itās the person that you have come to trust and open up to.
If you are a person with trust issues when your words are used against you or when your friends talk behind your back. The quote lies, the words do hurt. It hurts the only beating part of your body that enables you to breathe hell its worst than your bones!
Creating big scars unseen that the only thing you want to do is hide it, under a thicker shell where you donāt share with anyone, where you act strong and only cries in your sleep or in your head where it is unseen.
When you are the actor that hurts others, you will not feel that you have done something wrong. You will justify your words, sharpening it and targeting where it would hurt the most, even if it has no intention to be directly known by victims.
When you become a victim of words, you have the chance to stop yourself and not say anything, to stop the cycle of being mean, or if you are trusted with peopleās opinion to keep it to yourself and not share with others as a topic of conversation. Perhaps itās the best thing to do than to go against people and stabbing them in the back straight to the heart.
As we grow up I hear the challenges get harder, more people will hate you for the things you achieve, for the acts you do, for any reason possible.
People become more sensitive and more likely to attack you.
If people canāt handle it, there are those who turn to suicide, those who will become robots, and those who become hurt others the same way they are hurt.
The big question would be how can you make yourself deaf and blind toward what people say, make you believe in yourself and the decision you make.
More importantly how does it make you the bigger person, with a big heart?
This is a turning point everyone will experience in their life, but I guess some are just built tougher than others.
Great leaders as much as they are hated, as much as there are opposition, as much as people with ādouble standardsā ready to break you down, they have never shed a tear or complained in public.
But you can see that they still have feelings and they can be hurt. Look at their tired eyes, that moment of sadness that passes when you see them glace to a void, taking the words in.
As much as opposing is a right, but people never want to hear both sides of the story while judging at the sideline. Looking to find the right policies, the most wise and populist staying up nights not sleeping, having worried eyes like a panda. Whatever you create there will always be critics and oppositions. The only thing you can do next Is smile. Sometimes I wonder how mean people survive in this world, not feeling guilty but then again they are perhaps just another victims of yelling and continues hurt.
The most theoretical way to face all of this is like what the British say āKeep calm and carry onā but the hardest to apply to some people.
