The narrative unravels a complex love quadrangle involving Shī Lè, Xī Yí, Huān Zhuāng, and Suì Hán. Shī Lè, believing Xī Yí to be Suì Hán’s reincarnation due to a spiritual essence in his blood, devoted herself to him. Xī Yí, aware he was merely a proxy for Suì Hán, grew resentful and pursued Huān Zhuāng, both out of genuine affection and to spite Shī Lè. When Shī Lè realized Xī Yí wasn’t Suì Hán, she remained unmoved by his actions and planned to leave the palace, crushing Xī Yí’s hopes.

A demonic plague in eight southwestern cities drives the plot forward. Shī Lè, lacking the Bright Mirror Platform (occupied by Huān Zhuāng), struggled to defeat the demon. Xī Yí, delivering a treasure to aid her, was ambushed by demons but saved by an artifact tied to Suì Hán’s essence. When the artifact was destroyed, Shī Lè realized it—not Xī Yí—carried Suì Hán’s spirit, leading her to confront Xī Yí, declaring he was never Suì Hán, and severing their bond.

The ice coffin holds Suì Hán, whose soul was preserved by Shī Lè’s fúlíng spell after he defeated the demon, sacrificing his soul’s stability.
