Welcome to the SHANTEE HOUSE, formally the BACKPACK GUESTHOUSE!
After 20 years of providing travelers with a home away from home. Attila, the owner and founder decided to rejuvenate the hostel. Improving facilities, making it more attractive, spacious, comfortable and last but not least more environmentally friendly; while still keeping the friendly atmosphere.
If you tired of the hustle and bustle, of the big city and you'd like to get to a "island" of peace and tranquility with bird song, a jungle of flowers and plants, fresh air and hammocks to relax in, then come and meet similar people waiting for your friendship.
The experienced, well traveled staff are available 24 hours a day, to help you find the best tourist attractions, baths, cultural hot spots, night life and Budapest's hidden gems to ensure you get the most out of your time in Budapest.
In 1992 we transformed a detached house and opened Budapest's first hostel with the aim of providing safe, affordable accommodation close to the Downtown and yet in the greenbelt, offering peace and quiet to both Hungarian and foreign travellers.
In 2012 the building went through complete reconstruction and refurbishment in order to make it more attractive, spacious, comfortable and last but not least, environmentally friendly.
We offer several types of rooms to meet all needs, from double or twin en-suite bedrooms to big dormitories capable of accommodate large circle of friends. 24-hour reception, friendly, helpful staff, a fully equipped kitchen, wireless internet access, an amazing chill-out garden and a bike rental service all help relax and make the most of your holiday. For those who like challenge, we organise special trips (see Activities)
We provide a large room suitable for meetings, gatherings or workshops.
The guesthouse is located in the centre of southern Buda, near Móricz Zsigmond körtér, within easy reach of the Downtown 24/7.
