Monster Hunter: World Log #1
OKAY, we're going to actually sit down and talk about my (semi) first playthrough of Monster Hunter: World. I did play it upon release with a few friends (I even have my original character, but I started a new one for this playthrough), but I only achieved about... 2.5 hours of play-time?
Judging by the fact that my current character has an hour and I haven't done jackshit I'm going to say 2.5 hours is not terribly farther along.
Left: My first character and palico based off my childhood cat, Lucky. Right: My second character and palico based off my cat Oliver from college :')
So far I've learned how navigating the 'frontier' works. Glowing bugs. Animal signs. That sort of thing. I've also taken down the great jagras... And I was immediately reminded of my problem with this game the first time. >_>
Sooo, Monster Hunter has been out for awhile. I'm sure a lot of you know how the game works, right? Well, this was my first title, and I was not prepared for finishing the hunts.
I don't know if all of them work this way, but with the Great Jagras, you beat the shit out of it until it retreats back to its lair. You track it down (basically to its bedroom) where its lying down, bloody and exhausted, and trying to recuperate. And y'all... THIS MADE ME FEEL TERRIBLE LMAO.
It's like... you follow it back to its home, it's bloody and whimpering and just so so pathetic, and then you gotta beat the shit out of it some more?? That just didn't sit right with me on my first play-through. This time I'm just trying to push past it to enjoy the game, and it IS an enjoyable game! I haven't familiarized myself with all of the mechanics in the game, but they are MYRIAD. I haven't even introduced myself to everyone in the main base yet!
Anyway, I'm about to go on my Pukei-Pukei hunt! (Gross name for a gross bird... thing.) I'll let you know how it goes! ;D
