The Lines #Shalit (at Walmart Kearny)
A participant of a rally in Berlin in solidarity with Israel and against the terror of Hamas held a picture of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier who was held as a hostage by Hamas at this time for more than two years. Shalit was released after five years of captivity in 2011 as a part of a prisoner exchange. 01/11/2009. . . #berlin #schoeneberg #israel #idf #shalit #reportage #blackandwhite #photojournalism #documentary #photography #photo #streetsofberlin #berlineransichten #berlinstagram #photooftheday #latergram #schwarzweiss #fromthearchives

Gilad Shalit one year on: former Hamas prisoner gives first interview to Israel's Channel 10
On the eve of the first anniversary of his release from Hamas captivity, former Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit has given his first TV interview and revealed some of the details of his five years spent as a prisoner in the Gaza Strip. Shalit's release sparked scenes of national rejoicing across Israel last year despite concerns about the 1,000 Hamas prisoners released from Israeli jails to secure his freedom. He told Channel 10 that he had maintained his sanity during captivity by inventing word association games and drawing maps of familiar Israeli neighbourhoods. Israel will mark the one-year anniversary of his release on 18 October.
