     Still, to have him address him like that was almost unacceptable and his gaze turned cold as he stared down Ocelot with a biting tone to follow. “Be that as it may, I don’t need the third-degree Ocelot. Remember your place.” 

“Well if you’re doing fine then perhaps I should extend my dinner invitation to Vanya.” He baited, circling to the coffee machine to pour himself a mug. He’d been gone all week on some private project he’d been keeping from even those closest to him. 

Volgin wasn’t surprised by Ocelot’s out of the way attempts to show off. The Major liked to be recognized. After watching his routine he gives his approval by ruffling his hair. “You’d make a captivating entertainer.” He teases, patting him firmly on the shoulder. “I could use some entertainment tonight.” His tone was laced with suggestion as he started to pull away. “Come by my office when you have the time.” For now he had work to finish. 

The bed was small and would no doubt cause the colonel a good deal of discomfort. Yevgeny could hardly turn major down, though. He let out a long, slow breath and stretched out beside Adam, pulling him onto his chest to give him a softer surface to lay on. “The whole night.” He promises, tucking one arm behind his head and wrapping the other around his small lover. 

Yevgeny reached out, grabbing Adam’s wrist to pull him back, reluctant to let the other out of his sight. “Stay.” It was the first real word he’d said since Adam had pacified him. Even throughout the process of removing shells and shrapnel from his body he hadn’t made more than sounds and syllables. He knew he had a better chance at true rest if the major were with him. It had always been the case in the past. 

Hal yelped, wiggling in protest for a moment but settled down once the fear of being dropped took over. “H-hey! I can walk on my own.” It seemed to be an inexplicable constant that those he knew would toss him over their shoulders and carry on with their day with the expectation that he’d be alright with it. “Where are you taking me?”

“So that- that means that the giant man on a flaming unicorn is real? Because I’ll be honest I’m not sure I- I trust that even if we both almost died there.” He slumped against the wall, trembling and breathing hard. 

He hadn’t bothered covering up much to answer the door, behind him Ivan lay sprawled out and smoking in bed, legs tangled in the sheets to wick away sweat. Volgin hangs in the doorway until he sees who had come calling on him. He left the door hanging open for Adam to come in and sauntered over to pour himself a drink. “Close the door behind you.” If Ocelot has a message for him he expects him to come out with it without prompting. He gestured with the bottle in silent query if he should be pouring more.
