30 Days of Tamora Pierce: Day 8
Mithros, Mynoss, and Shakith! Whoβs your favourite god/goddess?
I wouldn't say he's my favourite, but I find the Black God very interesting. In lots of stories the god who's in charge of death and the afterlife are seen as malicious - basically Satan - when in lots of mythology they're utterly benign and half the time just completely indifferent to human affairs.
So it's nice that in Tortall he's just neutral. People fear him, but it's because they fear death, not because he's in some way evil. I thought it was really interesting, too, that Tamora Pierce sort of changed his 'design' in Provost's Dog from being all in black to having a brightly multi-coloured robe/hood/cloak/what-have-you.
But I also like Shakith, and the Great Mother Goddess goes alright, too. :P
