A Sonnet For Her
I would compare you to a summer's day, but you'd prefer a winter's night
For you are beautiful like a full moon, reflected upon a black lake.
My heart is filled then promptly breaks when you come across my sight.
Falling for you was akin to falling through ice, for my breath you always take.
Late nights bleed to early mornings as I lay in my bed, restless
Thinking about what we could have been as you and him grow closer.
Knowing that you are loving him while I lay alone makes me feel jealous.
A childish emotion, raw and pathetic, but when it comes to you I lose all my composure.
My biggest grievance is with what our future could have been, for I foolishly thought you could really be mine
Because how many girls out there have a star wars tattoo and were willing to go on a date with me
One day I'll heal from this unintended wound, but I'm tired of saying "I'm fine"
Should the Fates align once more and I'm given a second chance, perhaps we still could be.
I wish that we had had the time so that you could really know me,
But alas, we didn't and I fell unreciprocally hard for you ___.
