Watched the first episode of Will
And I have incredibly mixed feelings.
Won't get too long or get spoilery but:
Above all else, I was entertained. And I do believe that is both fitting and the POINT of the show.
The anachronisms in regards to fashion, styling, personal grooming, deportment, etc.
They give me a moment's pause. But only because the aesthetic this show is going for: this blend of New Romanticism and 70s British Punk, is so purely and bizarrely my own that I can't help but love it.
There's a lot that makes me raise my eyebrows, but this show has SO fully committed to their concept that I can at least abandon myself to the truth of the world they have created.
The dialogue is quite good.
Christopher Marlowe is quite literally everything I've ever wanted him to be.
Burbage- young and old- are quite entertaining and it was fun.
We will probably get the full season and watch it.
(Angry footnote: FFS I know it's sexy to have stays (a corset) next to skin so you can see all the cleavage but you lose maybe 1/2" if you put a freaking chemise on underneath that and I'm so tired of this trope and it literally makes me pull my hair out.)
