Maybe I'm just being dumb, but since you've also read the novel you'd know best- what the heck HAPPENED in the end? The whole thing with MA and Rilliane and Eve and the doll- so the doll was Eve, and Rilliane was MA? Or MA was possessing Rilliane? I just- whose who is confusing me.
I’m not sure if you’ve read my infomines yourself, but I’ll try to explain what was going on as simply as I can:
When Postman (a reincarnated Riliane) and Nemesis killed Ma’s Kayo body in the Wrath novel, Ma fled into Riliane’s soul and lay dormant there for a time. When Riliane was in the same room as most of the other contractors during the confrontation in the theater, Ma activated herself and quickly pulled all of them into another soul conglomerate to sustain her consciousness. So, yes, in a sense she was possessing Riliane, along with six other souls.
Eve, at that point, had had her soul merged with that of one of the Irregular twins that Master of the Court gave birth to (the twins had died almost immediately after they were born, and as such had no will or consciousness of their own). She’s the little blonde girl with pigtails.
The doll was there because Riliane intended to use it in her confrontation with Master of the Court (to suck her back inside it as a soul jar, basically). It was empty at that point.
