Posted @withregram • @operation_moksha Almost every single time I've coached a people pleaser, we find a huge reservoir of frustration, resentment and rage deep within them. Which makes perfect sense. People pleasers by definition repress their true thoughts, feelings, needs, desires, boundaries and experiences so as not to rock the boat. Which as you can guess, might be a little frustrating. Pretty much any time a part of them has something to say that might cause a problem for someone, they shove it down. And most of the time they're not very nice about it. Oftentimes these people have learned to despise their own needs or desires. They see them as sources of pain and so they try to do away with them entirely. Which just pisses them off. They're tired of not being listened to, tired of not having their needs met, tired of not getting what they want and tired of feeling like they don't matter. Which is a healthy and natural response to being treated that way. So what can you do about it? First, acknowledge the anger. Then, acknowledge why it's there. You're only angry because you have needs, desires and boundaries that need to be articulated and honored. Then express the anger in a healthy container, because you'll probably have a backlog of emotion that needs to be cleared after years of repression. From there, as the anger subsides you can identify the needs, desires boundaries and whatever else needs to be spoken and honored... Then I'm honor them. But you'll have to also face whatever had you repress your truth in the first place. What were you protecting yourself from? And what's a better way to protect yourself from that thing? Once this is handled you can simply speak your truth and honor it in a calm, open and loving way then deal with the repercussions with confidence and the solidify that comes from being connected to your truth.
