shadowdrac-rising reblogged your post “sharp teeth”
Your tags give me life, Drac. Now I’ll have a goofy smile on my face for the rest of the day. owo
Was it too obvious I was writing about two of my favorite characters?
shadowdrac-rising replied to your post “I’m really frustrated with my Magistarius dragons. I really like the...”
Part of me is like, "Ugh, that always sucks, when they aren't inspiring," but the other part of me is like, -grins maniacally and gestures to the AH- "Shopping!"
FR shopping spree!!! And then by the end of the day I’ll stare at my lair, wondering where all those new dragons came from while slowly coming to the realization that I am, again, utterly and completely broke. :’D
In an instance of war with another group, what would your dragons wear to signify their ranks and membership within their clan?
OhohohohoHO!
If they were to go to war, then all of the mercenaries armour would have Thanatos’ emblem stamped onto it. This would usually be on the shoulder, but not necessarily. It could be on the back or as a little chest piece; nothing too glaring.Hmm, the rank one is interesting. There’s nothing currently but I can see the higher ranking members getting little cape/bandanas which are stark red. It would certainly tie into Rho’s frankly really extra armour which doesn’t exist in my lore yet (spoilers) which comes with a massive fuckoff cape. I’ll have to think about this one.. [steeples fingers]
Thanks for asking! :>

How to outsiders know when they’ve crossed you clan’s border? Marks painted or carved into trees or rocks? Glowing runes marking the edge?
The dry wilderness surrounding the city is home to the lightning farmers, who own vast swatches of land in every direction, so outsiders may run into conductive fences and wires or active rods and spires giving off the warning that internal storage is full. Sometimes they’ll run into the farmers themselves out working the desert. Very few places are actually small ranches that breed hardy herd animals to supply the city.
The biggest indication, however, is the distant, lightning-active skyline of the city itself.
What are your clan’s more unique social rules?
I suppose since Thorim Rift is less a clan and more of a large city that there’s a lot of social diversity, especially where certain flights tend to gather into their own districts. There’s no real segregation, however, except perhaps in individuals, but say a Plague dragon just arrived from the Wasteland, then they have the chance to find their own folks in order to get comfortable before branching out if they want. A lot of the home/apartment districts have a general mixing of flights.
I’d like to say that it’s a melting pot, but there’s plenty of things that just don’t mix very well, so dragons either gotta adapt or just stick with folks they’re more comfortable with.
This was an excellent question and I don’t really feel I answered it very well; I’ll have to ponder on this some more.
Are there artists or writers? What sort of things do they create? Realistic works, or more fantastical/abstract things?
Thorim Rift is home to a good number of artisans, though there is a short supply of those like painters, charcoal artists, etc, and writers. Currently there’s one local writer, Caratacus, who is a technical writer and the historian/archivist, so his work is rigidly realistic.
As far as other artisans go, there’s a silk worker, mason and sculptor, jeweler, arc smith, blacksmith and metalworker. I’m sure other artists will be drawn in eventually as well.
