πππππ - light's peak, birth of shadow βοΈπΏ
this sabbat marks the longest day and shortest night of the year, highlighting the inevitable return of the darker days of autumn & winter.
midsummer, litha, solstice, whatever you want to call it. this celebration is ruled by the fiery gods of the sun and brings in their fiery energy.
litha journal/tarot prompts βοΈ
β’ nothing can hide - the sun reveals what is hidden in shadow. what recent realities or secrets have become illuminated recently? what shadows within yourself have been revealed to you?
β’ release - what have you been holding onto for the first half of this year? what is brewing and must be addressed?
β’ burn it down - what aspects of your life need to be destroyed by fiery energy? what needs to be thrown to the flames?
devotions, offerings, workings π»
midsummer is a great time to offer devotion to sun-based deities.
β’ local flowers
β’ citrus
β’ berries
β’ sunflowers
β’ baked goods
β’ foraged herbs
β’ your creativity
it is also a great time to seek the guidance from chthonic figures for the upcoming dark, waning period of the year. some people may feel lost as the year begins to close, so i have always found comfort in putting my trust in Hekate that she will guide me along the right path as the light fading limits my vision.
the sun is at its peak power. spellwork for happiness, abundance, prosperity, health. the sun embodies positivity and - quite literally - warmth. utilise this through sun symbolism, sun water, outside spellwork or altars, offering sun-baked goods etc. this is a time of clarity.
closing statements π
midsummer is a time to reflect on the half a year lived, and to plan and manifest for the half a year to come. don't sleep on the sun's power!
personally, litha is my time to really knuckle down and get to work on my shadow self. more things become visible as the light shines brighter :)
have a beautiful solstice, angels!
