Shadow Dragon Week - Day 2: Freedom | Chains
Pictured above, Jericho in his safe place, where he goes to clear his head.
Thank you @shadow-dragon-week
With one last look at the manor going up in flames, he turned his back and disappeared into the night.
"Tully is dead. Don't come looking."
"You're lost. Alone. Looking for safety. A refuge. Look for the dragons in the shadows."
Jericho could breathe. For the first time in as long as he could remember. He could breathe.
Excerpts from Jericho Mercar's backstory fic, Hostage.
For those who don't know, Jericho was once Tully Virellius. Son of a Magister that joined the Venatori, and dragged his sons into it with him. As a Dreamer, Tully was a valuable asset to the Venatori, but with no desire to aid their cause, he was also their prisoner. Held hostage by his own family, forced to work for his captors, he eventually fled and found the Shadow Dragons.
That's when he took on a new name, Jericho Mercar, and dedicated himself to liberating the oppressed and making a better Tevinter.
And then, as Rook, worked to free the world from the grasp of the Evanuris and the Blight.
Freedom means everything to one who spent most of his life in chains.
