Interview after winning silver at the Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund 2022.
Lea Wagner: Where’s Karl Geiger?
Andi: Still at the equipment control.
Wagner: (...) Markus, how does this feel?
Markus: Karl doing a grenade jump like that, mega. I was extremely nervous today, I knew it was partly up to me, that I’d need to get my stuff together. I pushed myself so much and that last jump felt like it was the best. I just wanted to get over the line so we’d be at least second before the last group. And I want to thank Sevi, Welle and Karl. Mega sick to be getting a medal here today, it’s really beautiful.
Wagner: Who would’ve expected this after the first day. Andi, what was it like, did you think it would be realistic?
Andi: In the beginning, not really, but I think we all worked our way into the competition really well. We’re a great team, Consti as well who supported us brilliantly today, he’s part of the group as well as all the staff and everyone who isn’t even here with us. We really pushed ourselves to manage to do this today.
Wagner: Consti, you’re here with the others, that’s great, it really shows the team spirit. But I can imagine it was hard for you today?
Consti: Well... Hard... I already said in an interview today, in the end you couldn’t make a wrong decision. We won silver, so it all worked out, the Slovenians just were extremely good. I’m happy for the boys, they did really well. So congratulations, from me as well.
Hannawald joining the scene, bit of banter and when Lea Wagner turns to him, Markus interjects: The ex-champion needs to say something as well.
Sevi: I cannot really say much except that, 10 years after the last silver medal with the team, it’s really great to be part of this team here. Next to Consti we should also mention Stephan because were here as a group of six. It’s extremely nice to be part of a big team that’s broadly based. Of course there are always only four who can jump but we can be glad to have such a big team so it can always be a different foursome.
Lea Wagner, saying they want to watch Karl’s last jump together once more and that she had mistakenly written down 283 meters and everyone’s laughing.
Markus and Simon complaining to each other after their jumps in second round.
the planning you do to watch some crazy people yeet themselves down this enormous hill
