Street Fighter Alpha: This game is a prequel. One of the playable characters is Guile's not-yet-dead best friend, Charlie Nash.

When I was young, I interpreted that to mean that they were... literally the same person, somehow? As in, Bison was a normal person but when he decided to become a crazy evil supervillain, the "good" part of his soul noped right out of there and manifested as Rose.

But now that I look at it again, I feel like it's more of... a soul that embodies two polar opposite consciousnesses simultaneously? Where one of those consciousnesess/bodies taps into the supernatural powers for evil and the other uses it for good. Psycho Energy and Soul Power being sort of two sides of the same coin.

But then there was that whole thing where Bison's body got destroyed and Rose absorbed part of his soul and his consciousness effectively possessed her body for a while? If they were the same soul to begin with, wouldn't the extreme good cancel out the extreme evil and they'd become just like... a lawful neutral accountant or something?

Something tells me that this isn't nearly as complicated as I'm making it out to be, and also that I shouldn't think too hard about it because fighting game plots exist mostly to sound exciting and give characters reasons to engage in fisticuffs.
