I’ve been asked a few times how I made my hoodies, and I always find it hard to answer other than “well I cut pieces and sew”, which is true but doesn’t convey the actual effort this can mean. So I thought I could show the whole process of making a complex custom hoodie. This is many hours of work, layered on three days.
The design is inspired by the Vile Armor from Infiny Blade. I’m not familiar with the game at all, but the customer sent me a lot of references, bless him. It’s an intricate armor set and I wanted to keep as much detail as possible, without breaking the customer’s budget of my sanity.
So you can see all the steps from my terrible drawing, to the patterns being made, pieces being cut (so many of them! @_@ ), adding interfacing for the pieces with appliqué, lots of pinning and hair-pulling for the assembling, adding some leather straps for decoration, and ta-dah!
